Topic: Count 'em pleasr

Finally I made a list of my working machines. I have 18 working computers/consoles, and number 19 is on it's wsy to me :-) How many working machines do you all have? I'm just curious :-)

I'm not drunk, really I ain't. I hate writing on my phone :-)

@Frankie:

Um...1...2...3...4...5...6........that's it.

5 of those are iPhones and iPads though. wink

Not what you were after? devil

My daugher has a LeapPad. Does that count? I really wish I did have a bunch of retro consoles and computers, but it would likely be a direct replacement for my wife and child.

That's an impressive number Frankie!laugh

I've got 8: Nintendo,Super Nintendo, Sega genesis, turbografx 16, GameCube, PS1, PS2, and PS3 :)

The TG16 arcade ports are excellent. I might pick me up C64 sometime soon, they seem fairly inexpensive over here on eBay  and Amazon .

Nine:

*Vectrex

*Atari 7800

*Sega Genesis

*Sega 32X

*Sega CD

*Handhelds

*PC

*Plug and play consoles

*Wii

I have more when you include compatibles/backwards, as I just got my very first GameCube game of Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex yesterday at a resale shop.  Luckily I had just grabbed my very first GameCube controller a few months' previous too :) I also have about 50 Atari 2600 games, which work on my 7800.  I'll replace my 2600 console that bit the dust years ago at some point.

Also, the family has an iPad and Android device, but those are theirs, not mine.

Just got myself a 48k Spectrum complete in an excellent box for just 79 €.  Couldn't let that pass. Normally you pay double or more here. And it was my very first computer back in 1982.

My trusty Spectrum +2 and c64c. The latter has a faulty video output but I just won on eBay a new motherboard for 19 €. Hope it works.

Two C64 breadbins, an Amiga 500, two MSX 1 computers

An Atari 800xl (currently being shipped)

On the console side:: I started with consoles very late with a PlayStation. Which was a great machine but it was also the end of high scores / gameplay stuff I had during the 8 bit time.

A phat and a slim PS2,  A PS3. Two XBOX, two XBOX360, a N64 with Doctor v64, two NES, a Megadrive, a Wii, two Atari 2600.

Handhelds: GBA so, GB color and my JXD Android gaming tablet.

A bid is done on a C16 and I am still searching for an Amstrad CPC 6128 and MSX2 but those resellers are completely ruining retro with their crazy prices.. A PC Engine is also on the wanted list.

So that is 27 or so.  I am leaving emu more and more. That hardware has to be played. laugh

@Frankie:

Nice list btw.

It is a Toshiba and there is a problem with it. It turns on, I saw a millisecond of the screen and then black. Oh well, it came in one batch with c64 and other sony hitbit MSX.

Maybe it is a Japanese version. So I don't want to shift you that one but on eBay you can get one for 50€. If you can, best to get an MSX2, but high in price.

I hope to get one as you can use that Gotek on it too. And on the Amstrad.

Posted by on 2015-10-13 16:17:12

@GTibel:

Gotek on Amstrad? You mean CPC 6128, don't you?

I've heard that it can't be used with CPC 464. It should however be possible to use it with my Dragon 32, but will I ever get that working? Probably not laugh

My plan would be to buy some kind of Gotek with SD card, to be able to save game on Amiga, and then my Gotek moves over to Dragon 32 smiley

Posted by on 2015-10-13 16:23:39

@Frankie:

Yep. I ment the 6128.

For the MSX , this is the one I have and is for sale now

http://www.ebay.de/itm/MSX-Toshiba-Home-Computer-HX-10-64K-Usata-Used-Loose-/331675376553?hash=item4d39649ba9

For the Gotek you probably know this list

http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/support.htm

The Dragon is indeed on the list.

Posted by on 2015-10-13 16:32:08

@GTibel:

Yes, I know this list. But there are not much infos to be found on how to get it to work on the Dragon. But that is in the future smiley

3. Genesis/Megadrive

4. Playstation 2

5. Nintendo DS

6. Nintendo 3DS

7. Wii U

8. Turbo Grafx 16

Posted by on 2015-11-08 02:46:28

@Mark:

All I can offer at the moment is a Spectrum 16K smiley

But do you know how to run an European machine over there? Do you have more European machines?

Posted by on 2015-11-08 04:23:10

@Mantalow:

For the TG16: Probably because you always played with the PC Engine version. I do like it. smiley

Maybe check this site which offers the RGB+PAL to NTSC mod:

http://www.otakus-store.net/en/nec-pc-engine-gt-duo/48-turbografx-16-rgb-60hz-region-free-mod.html

It is in France and propably cheaper than the Duo. gr

Posted by on 2015-11-08 04:24:30

@GTibel:

My Sony Trinitron plays it as PAL-60, so I guess this equals 60Mhz play? I am not a technician but it plays fluent and I don't have any black stripes on the sides.

Posted by on 2015-11-08 04:30:25

@GTibel:

I already bought a Duo-R (near mint condition) + a power convertor 110V <> 220V for about 240€

I'm waiting next months to buy a game pack found on ebay with 98 games -Hucards/CDs)

I'm really disapointed with the TG16 because 1) it's 50 Hz, games are very slow 2) this model only allow me to play US games (about 10% of all the hucards realeased in Japan) 3) it doesn't even read the supergrafx games.

But it's always a pleasure to have it in my collection, I think it'll return in its box when I'll receive my Duo-R

Posted by on 2015-11-08 06:06:59

@GTibel:

PAL 60 is 60 Hz not MHz ^^ (equal 60 fps, not 60 millions fps)

Posted by on 2015-11-08 06:08:45

@Frankie:

No i don't own any, but I do own three PAL-to-NTSC converters. All I need is a power step-down converter. I have a Japanese Master System, but they use NTSC too, as well as 100 volts. We use 110, which is close enough. Plus they used the same AV cable for both.

They sold the Spectrum in the U.S. as the Timex Sinclair, but I've only seen them in old magazines. How much were you thinking?

i didn't realize it was getting so out of hand. xD   It gets more ridiculous when i start counting various COLORED game boys, game cubes, etc.  I think I actually have 30 Atari 2600's (23 working and only one of those extra I'm trying to sell it hahahah), for example one Light 6-er has orange trim, one has yellow trim, etc.  One Vader model has a silver label and one has a purple label.  one of a particular model made in Hong Kong, one in Taiwan, one in Sunnyvale...  Also needing new homes are extra Game cubes, N64's Genesis'es, Dreamcast, DSLite, Xbox's, PS's, PS2's, Jakks Atari Joysticks and a Jakks Namco Ms. Pac-Man.

then there is also a MOUND of non-working systems & games.  counting everything we're probably pushing 150.

I get most stuff pretty cheap, one guy I work for knows I'll work for video games, the 18-yr old neighbor kid pushes games my way and borrows Xbox & 360 games from me, lol.   I feel very lucky there are so many games around here!!  Yard sales, game stores, people all over the place around here.  Craigslist has been kind.  HighScore has been kind!!  One game dealer guy is always pushing stuff my way & I hook him up with stuff he needs -- a controller or a power supply, info, testing systems, etc...  It's been my biggest hobby in the past few years wink

@S.BAZ:

Pretty impressive collection surprise

@S.BAZ: Very nice collection, just a shame about the non working Colecovision :-(
Posted by on 2015-11-09 09:25:28

@Frankie:

yeah sad is right, but can't really complain it was $10 at Goodwill thrift store. perhaps it can be fixed, the power works & the games play.  only problem is the screen is scrambled & rolling...

working Colecovision is #2 on my wish-list, after Atari Lynx!

Posted by on 2015-11-12 17:58:29

@Mantalow:

An everdrive would open up the PC engine Catalog on TG16, that's almost a must for TG16 due to the majority of the titles never left Japan. The everdrive is great:) as far as 50hz vs 60hz, I didn't notice any real difference in Gti's blazing lasers video, I did a run right after watching some of it. ( sorry to be off topic Frankie)

Posted by on 2015-11-12 19:50:14

@S.BAZ: I got a Colecovision with 3 games on its way to me with 3 games. I've also bought Lady Bug for it on its own on Ebay. So there'll be updates to my list soon :-)
Posted by on 2015-11-12 23:21:28

@derek:

Well, I notice the difference between 50 & 60 Hz on my TG16, musics are playing slower and it's difficult to play when you always played only japanese system.

I'm waiting for an everdrive, which will be working on my PC Engine Duo too, and I can play SuperGrafx Games on it + Super CDROM² System ;)

Posted by on 2015-11-13 02:09:53

Currently 14 Consoles:

Atari 7800
Colecovision
NES
Famicom
Super Nintendo
Super Famicom
Genesis (Model 1)
PSP
Playstation
PS2
PS3
Dreamcast
TurboGrafx-16
Gamecube

Consoles I might get in the future:

Wii
Original Xbox
Master System
Sega CD (maybe)
Famicom Disk System or sell Famicom and get Twin Famicom
Atari 2600 Vader edition

I want the ZX Spectrum but it looks like a pain in the ass to get it running over here in NTSC land.

Posted by on 2015-11-13 03:24:10

@OriginalGamer: You need the American version, the Timex 1200 IIRC :-)
Posted by on 2015-11-13 04:48:29

@Frankie:

Thanks for the heads up, after a quick search on Timex it looks like another American version is Timex Sinclair 2068. I would prefer to have an actual ZX just because it's the original but finding one would be problem #1 then how do I use it here would be problem #2. sad

Posted by on 2015-11-13 11:19:57

@OriginalGamer:

I'm also considering buying an American machine to start experimenting on getting it to work over here. You'll need a volt transformer, and then there's still the PAL/NTSC problem.

I have some Spectrums that just need new membranes, buy with postage and customs and a little plus for me, they could get expensive in the end. Don't know if you can post computers to the US as a gift, and thereby avoid extra costs???

@Frankie:

If you're selling one I will absolutely buy it. Working keyboard or not, I'm pretty good at soldering.

Posted by on 2015-11-13 19:36:45

@OriginalGamer:

You don't need soldering to fit a new membrane. I could easily find a Spectrum that works, but can't check it properly without an new membrane. Those membranes can be bought in the UK, and cost about £10 I think.

23. Game & Watch Parachute -Handheld-

24. CGL Galazy Invader 1000 -Handheld- (Only works when playing on Level 2)

25. Texas TI-99/4A

Added a Spectrum 48K+ with working membrane. A 48K+ is the original Spectrum, but with a bigger and better Keyboard.

On the downside I got my Oric-1 today, and it is not working. I doubt the seller had it working with the PSU that came with it. Never seen a cord with so much tape on it, and in some places there was no protection at all. So, I need that one fixed sad

Wow, Derek.  I didn't know that the PS2 Original Fat Model has a PS1 Chip,  I thought the original fat one is gonna consider emulation or something when played a Original Playstation Game but, fair enough.  Thanks!

That's a pleasure to read topics like this.

Mainly about Frankie and Barthax lists.

Excellent S.BAZ's histories too.

My older console is an Atari2600.

The greatest happiness here is to see most of these classic hardwares being played. It's all they deserve!!! yes

big trade fun!    3 new systems:

33. ColecoVision  (working!)

34. TurboGrafx 16  (no games)

35. SEGA 32X  (w/ stack of games)

A games dealer I know came over with a car-load of Atari & Atari-related stuff to trade for stuff he's more familiar with for selling.  so I was able to off-load a bunch of xbox's & playstations & Nintendo games (unnecessary extra stuff!)  for a box of atari games & the above consoles & some other random goodies!

also just arrived:

85. ColecoVision Flashback

Been buying two machines while on holiday. The first was a Sega Master System II which cost me £12. It could not load cartridges, but after I cleaned it, it works like a charm :-) So £12 for a second one, which have Sonic the Hedgehog build in, and came with a Mega Drive Controller. Not bad for £12 I think :-)

The second buy was a Commodore 64C. I got a few Commodores but none of this model. It costs me £61, but besides the machine, I got 5 games, 2 joysticks (still untested), 1 English manual and 2 Danish manuals. Maybe a bit to much, as they could not even guarantee me it worked, so I took a gamble, and it does work :-)
