wow!! lmao!
too much!!
Tell me, why is atari 5200 just lumped together with another system all the time?
should have it's own comp...
It's dire... laugh

@kernzy:

The 5200 is an odd system, and I feel that because of its oddities, it doesn't enjoy the same popularity as Atari's other consoles (though it may be about on par with the Jaguar).

However, I have a soft spot for the system, so I've included it in some multi-system contests.

We did have a 5200-specific contest about a year ago. The prize was an AtariMax flash card cartridge, which isn't cheap. I might be inclined to do more of them if there were more 5200-specific prizes out there that I thought were enticing.

Someday, if High Score starts generating some revenue, or High Score gets some significant sponsorship, I have some ideas for some pretty awesome prizes and contests :)

@kernzy:

this time it also makes sense because the 5200 runs basically the same system as the 8-bit computers, and often it's actually the same game on the 5200, not even a different version.

Since I can add games to the system, and since I'll be submitting scores for the 8bit & N64 contests, I'm putting all my request-processing time into adding requested games for those systems, to be fair to other participants.

if my time for that gets limitied, I'll give priority to N64 requests since that contest includes grabbing & holding new trophies.

@Serious:

will scores for (Wii Virtual Console: N64) count toward the contest?

Posted by on 2016-04-10 15:21:30

@S.BAZ:

I considered it, but decided not to include Wii Virtual Console this time around.

@Serious:

Thanks for the responses, it all seems to make sense.
It always makes me wonder when a new competition starts, how many gadgets and gizmo's has Serious got laying around? Seems to me he's tripping over them at home ! laugh
Seriously, these comps are brilliant. Maybe there's too many?? lol.
We need a break sometimes, ha !! laughyes

@S.BAZ:

Never ever played N64 before.
Doubt I'll start now... any good games?

@kernzy:

Hmm.. Too many contests?

Oops! How about a few more? laugh

The winner of each will receive a $25 gift certificate for eBay.com (US) or AtariAge.

@kernzy:

that was funny  laugh

@kernzy:

yeah there's definitely good games, it's just the system was flooded with sports & racing games, also 1st person & other 3D showcase games.  at the time it seemed like they were way too focused on showing off the new graphics technology so much that the actual *game* quality suffered.   I had a N64 in the late '90s & played it a lot, but all that game time was pretty much done with about 5 games  8/

I played a CRAPLOAD of Mario Kart & Wave Race, great games.

Also some of the best action games (like Mario 64, 007 Goldeneye, Zelda, etc) don't have scores so here they only work for speed-runs & mini-games that you can find somewhere in the adventure  :(

...so expect to see a lot of racing times from me after I plow through the few arcade-style games I have.

@S.BAZ:

Wow, you pretty much said what exactly what I said about N64 only more detailed laugh!

I went the PlayStation route back then but had a few friends who had the N64; when goldeneye came out it was the EFFING most bad ass thing we had ever seen!! Shooting your buddy was so over top and sick looking!

Posted by on 2016-04-13 18:51:57

@derek:

ha, yeah I was totally amazed with Super Mario 64 especially.  yeah Goldeneye was such a great multiplayer game!  when SNES cam out that was pretty cool, but the N64 was such a bigger jump it was ****in' awesome.  For some reason Playstation didn't seem as amazing to me even though it came out first... but i ended up getting one & played a LOT more games on that.  I just got plain bored quick with most N64 games I played besides the few that totally hooked me.  so i overlooked a lot of 'em esp. goofy cartooney stuff, "Banjo Tooie" & Conker, Diddy Kong a lot of them turn out to be pretty good games i never tried.  New Tetris was a big disappointment -- no score!  already'd moved on to playstation when Smash Bros cam along.

Playstation just had more to offer to "video gamers."  RPG's, shootemups, arcade collections, I loved Vandal Hearts & Twisted Metal & FFIV & Metal Gear & Blood Omen & Bushido Blade & Oddworld & Tomb Raider & Return Fire & Resident Evil & Castlevania & etc. one could go on & on... (didn't care for Crash though lol)

ha!

just re-read this, quite fun.
The only other semi-gripe I have, is the length of the competition. Don't get me wrong, when there is a comp on HS.com, it is my most frantic time of gaming, and I love the competition, it's brilliant.
I upload scores, I make new video's for my channel, I beat my PB's, it's all good.
But we also have to manage our competitions. We have to log in daily or hourly to see if someone beat our score, so we have time to beat it back, and do more score attempts, and more video making, and more voting, and then more gaming, checking, uploading, submitting, gaming, drinking, managing, drinking, smoking, gaming, sleeping, etc, LMAO ! I just told you about my day, lol. laugh
It's great fun for me, I am that guy.
This competition is the best part of 3 months long, and it's tricky to guess perfect equilibrium between voting time and comp length, but for us older guys, it gets tiring, heh, heh ! laugh
