Hi,
I love the thrill of cracking Highscores and getting better and better in the old games.
Cheating is never an option, because one would alway cheat oneself.
But I understand this website more as a competition between fans of old games, for fun but also for showing how good one is in some games. Most people from today can't understand the quality and skill with which the old games challanged one.
Though there are modern games which achieve that.
Why I made this comment was concerning the necessariety of videoproofs.
Yes, who desires to cheat will do this, even before our very eyes.
But a video is still a good way of showing how the score was achieved, and if just for the show of performance and maybe even as a kind of guidline for others to improve there game and compete more.
I struggle to upload a screenshot of a pinball videogame score, because I didn't record it, and know therefore, that it wouldn't convince the most. And I do understand that, though I accept scores even without videos, if the photo shows the monitor and so on. Meaning, not a pure screenshot.
Verzeih, daß ich soviel gequatscht hab, schöne Grüße aus'em Pott nach Bayern!
Hi MangiaBoy. I saw your request to add Jungle Hunt for the Apple II. I've added 3 Jungle Hunt games, based on the 3 skill levels, 1-3.
Skill 1: http://highscore.com/game/?g=59729&enterscore=1
Skill 2: http://highscore.com/game/?g=59731&enterscore=1
Skill 3: http://highscore.com/game/?g=59733&enterscore=1
Cheers, ISB
I got 311k on Robotron with one controller for the 7800 last week!
Hello Trickster, thank you for your comment.
Here my answer. I'm just an average gamer and playing vintage video games is a hobby for me.
Most of my scores are mediocre or even worse. Almost everybody would reach my scores with a few attempts. Often I play the games for the first time and don't even know the exact gameplay, rarely I read the instruction manual. The only console where I'm a little bit better is the Colecovision. Here I reached 2 or 3 relative good scores that would be top in Twin Galaxies. All these scores were done with a real console and documented by a photo, mostly they were done for the Atariage HighScore Club.
Now to your proposal to take videos. If anybody wants to cheat he can do it also with videos than with uploaded screenshots.
An exact documentation of world records are absolutely necessary, but in my opinion only for world-known Arcade games, maybe even for MAME titles or the more famous titles of the VCS or NES. (Donkey Kong, PacMan, QBert, Space Invader etc) Not for emulated games of Sega SG 1000, Bally Astrocade or INTV
You can play my games and you will often reach better scores soon. Try it, please.
So I think it's exaggerated to post videos.
A small metaphor at least. Only because a Tour de France winner took illegal substances, we shouldn't test every bicycle rider who only wants to go to his workplace by bike.
Best regards, Walter
This score was done for the Atariage HSC. I think it was about 3 years ago,so I didn't s ign with my initials. Highscore.com didn't exist at that time.
BTW : I haven't found a higher score in the internet already, so from should this score be stolen.
