Yup I can't write competition. Just Engrish gibberish my Dutch brain comes up with, or maybe it was a case of too much wine. Who knows.... Anyway, I only noticed it when the video was done rendering already and I was (and still am) way too lazy to fix it :)
Traffic was played on Winvice 3.1 x64 / Windows 10 pro with XBOX 360 controller.
Music playing are remixes made by my brother and me. You can find out more about our project over at http://www.retro-brothers.com (if you like C64, you'll love the website)
The Lemon 64 Games Competition thread for Traffic can be found at their forum over at:

Cheers!
Checked a few versions and they all start on Chase 08. So went with that. (although you can change it)
Becomes confusing when you die on chase 08 and hit F7 to play again. It'll put you to chase 07. Didn't check what happens if you die on chase 07, but I picture you go to 06.
But when you F1 reset it'll put you back by default to chase 08.
Pfff.. Maybe I'll request a different category for starting at chase 01, which is selectable with F5. I do enjoy starting at this higher level though. You're more into the action right away.
Cheers! I may try a couple for sure
Was looking into Astro Chase on C64.
Noticed Highscore.com didn't have it in the db yet, but did have Atari versions.
Didn't want to go through the process of requesting the C64 version and was kinda intrigued to try it on a different platform.
Sooo... Played on kat 5200 0.8.1 on Windows 10 Pro with a Xbox 360 controller
Good fun!
Just getting rid of a highscore.com goal I set for myself in 2016, which was to beat Kernzy's 27,575 (and improve my own 23,395)
Took me forever to get around doing it.. I guess I don't really enjoy playing this one. Just childhood memories. Kid Grid and other Amidar clones are much more fun I suppose.

Was holding some 40k record for a while (years?)
Don't remember if there was video of this one

WinVice 3.1 x64

Xbox 360 Game Pad
Run starts @ 0:29
Game over @ 17:40
Played on a real breadbin C64, upscaled with a Framemeister and captured with an old Elegato HD capture device into OBS. The footage was streamed locally, but never published as we found there was no audio captured from the studio and the C64 was muted for obvious reasons. So we just layered our C64 remixes with the footage.
Cheers!
I know you and I can take this to a higher level though.. Beating the boss of this level we die in for instance,, It will be hard, but doable... The 3th level is just plain madness for me, not even considering mode M... I practiced with the Japanese mode P version hehe
Run start @ 0:12
Game over @ 4:50
DIP Switches @ 5.14
Game info @ 5:23
Emulator: MAME0195b_64bit
Will include it in the movie next time, if I ever get a new score I'd like to put up
Somebody asked for the dip switches.. I hadn't thought about those since I normally only run C64 games and when I played Tutankham like crazy, it was on XBLA Game Room (when that was still a thing)
I now posted a screen with the defaults as they loaded with my MAME64.. Can't find any official rules what to set these to, so I'll just leave'em and keep running with these for now
Here to entertain with a few deaths in the first 3 and a half minutes
The low score run starts from 3:30
Game over at 9:00
This is one fast, demanding, arcade shooter.
Can seem a bit unfair at times, but it's doable.
Cool I'll get that one then. Must have closest thing to the original
Awesome run btw, I'm always happy to loop it once and then die in the second fireball phase
Hey which Anirog Skramble version is this?
Noticed the ending bonus is 2500, but not added to your score.
I was on a version were that bonus is 8000, but does also not add to your score.
And I know there is a crack that explicitly says it fixes the 8000 bonus, and it indeed there does add to your score.
Confusing stuff
hehe a video of a video of a video game
Played on WinVICE
Am able to complete all these parts individually at times, but it's really hard to string them together in a single run. Especially nailing the roof top jumping is hard, since I do rely on a bit of luck with the patrol patterns and the shooter window positions.
The game is good fun though. Nostalgia!
Resubmitted, as the original submission included an extra 100 points caused by typo mistake.
Personal best as of 2018-02-14, beating my 2016 attempt.. Not first place sadly
Oh Blue Print.. The memories!
Must dig it up and try as well, but I think I won't come as far as you do. I remember finding this game really hard!
Awesome game! Did play this before, having a blast, but totally forgot about it.
Cheers for bringing back the memories! Maybe I'll give it a go as well
Played this a lot as a kid. Was better at it back then. Have a hard time hitting 10 diamonds now.

Played this a lot as a kid. Was better at it back then. Have a hard time hitting 10 diamonds now.
Hehe thanks.. I know we can do better though. Just have to string something together without stupid stuff
Hehe its cool. Not your doing. What is weird is the cardridge footage I guess... I must have had too many beers yesterday
Still means we shouldn't have a new 1.5 category when that's the retail version anyways. Running a 1.2 or a beta version should either be their own categories or be dismissed as the 1.5 version is where its at. We should keep submitting here
haha same here.. Just learned you can turn music off with spacebar.. Should remember that next time
Sector 1 complete..
Next time I'll try sector 2 or whatever is needed to get my 1st place trophy back after its cracked by one of you talented folks
Hmmm wait I'm confused...... arrgg.. I leave so many comments here...
But yeah I now see the version @glenn plays is totally different from what I run.
The version I played should really be the retail version. I used the d64 version I got as a download when I purchased the game. But that one supposed to be the 1.5 version as said in the zip file of the download and also viewable somewhere in the beginning of my video bottom left in the options screen where I show what settings I run.
My 1.5 has autofire, but autofire or not, in my version I played you can only shoot when your bullet is off the screen. Also the gui is different..
So confused now.. What version ARE you running Glenn?
Or... That would be Glenn Confused by S.Baz pointing out time of score
Should also be noted that running this with only using autofire is actually a disadvantage.. You can shoot faster when hitting nearby enemies, tapping the button...
You'd be better off making a 1.2 category for anyone who wants to run that.
You'd be better off making a 1.2 category for anyone who wants to run that.
Hmm that is confusing.. 1.5 is the retail version and the scores set by me in the original categories are also for the 1.5 version
Cheers!
Same here.. Played this in a Commodore store as a kid. They had it on display as sort of a demo. Was inmediatly hooked.
My dad bought me the tape version right then and there. Then from the backseat of the car I've been staring at the case artwork all the way back home, which also left an impression. Stands out or something.
Been one of my more beloved games in the early C64 days for sure!
Interestingly when I put baby down for a minute I burn all my men in a single level
You sure kicked him good in the nuts that one time
Since this is the no continues category, I'm reposting my 74200 continues allowed run here with the score before using that one continue you get.
Continue screen with score at the 7:10 mark
Thanks and yeah Galencia is awesome. Perfect for this site as well. Hope people will start competing in the different categories
I guess I'll put C64anabalt on my todo list for 2018
buuuuuu. so i can't peek on how to beat this in 2018
The amazing score of 0123456 during production stream
Jawbreaker is booted up at around 02:15:00
Highscore is shown around 02:29:00
Gameplay can be checked in between those times obviously
I missed this place.. For sure if me, music bro, or whomever is guest in the studio, be putting up some sort of decent high score, I'll be sure to post it!
It's just awesome to see what you have been up to and to connect with you guys and all that good stuff hehe. Nice to be back :)
Oh deym yeah I was soooo into Oil's for a while and then I completely forgot! Good of you to bring it up. I should definitly boot it up during one of our streams soon :D
Trolls be trolls :) Yeah I know they roam this place...It's okay! There are worse things in life :P
Hey all!
Had a somewhat decent IK+ run last night at the end of a music production stream. (the youtube clip is from half of the stream, since the first part had major audio issues)
The score set is not first place, but thought I'd share anyway to show I'm still active :) It's just during these production nights I'm not totally there with the game often, so nothing highscore worthy comes out most of the time. :)
For the record, I'm booting up IK+ around 39 minutes in.
Final score at around 49 minutes, 1 minute before I close the stream.
not that I know off.. It's missing somewhere?
Hehe I know what you mean with the nagging. I think it's a pretty common phenomenon in any marriage household
Oh thank you kind sir!
With lots of biting,
Toadette
Since there is no longer any score with watchable evidence it seems... Might as well post this.
May not be the best, but I hope it entertains!
And forgive us for the sounds incoming from toadette and wife :)
lol.. now I'll probably do the same to my own daughter, if I ever get one
Aside from wearing contacts that may cause me to rub eyes in the early morning, no real problems here.
I'm nearsighted, so things close by are no trouble even without contacts actually. With my condition I'm in luck that I'll not be needing reading glasses for the longest time.
From what you're saying, you might consider reading glasses for laptop work. It's the more common route for most anyways.
And when I'm working the movie is rendering.. That's multi tasking hehe
that was probably between 7 and 8 am, just a little wake up routine on wednesday as I start working from home around 9
Just some quick Dinky Doo fun in de morning. Man, that music gets old quick... Next time I should just disable it with 'k' (and for the record, you enable with 's')
FRAPS wasn't on its best settings for C64 screen capturing. Discovered that only after already having rendered this from Vegas. Though I might as well post it and maybe do a new one with improved score somewhere down the line...
Hehe yup damn sticky floors
I guess for some it's easy to loop this over and over. But for myself, I find it hard to do all the routine stuff over and over again. At the end I clearly lost any focus I had left and start pulling enough crap my way that it ended the marathon session hehehe.
Ehehehehe. I'd love to see that kind anger therapy split screen
I do remember the day I got furious with a game boy game and threw the game boy half way across the living room... Quickly afterwards, I'd run to it, to see if it didn't break and all still worked (it still worked btw! good ol Nintendo quality!)..
But yeah I normally like too keep my calm and enjoy the ride, even if a game is unfair, unforgiving, or should I rephrase... Challenging
Bruce Lee marathon!
Time lapsed half the marathon in the first 4 minutes, after that is split screen gameplay..
It sure is! True C64 rythm and instrumentation wizard he is
This game and I are never going to be friends. Didn't play it as a kid.
Lol so close!!! And deym you made level 8. I think I actually see that level for the first time now...Anyways.. Nice one mate!
Up for some more runs to see if we can crack 200k? :D
Twin Galaxies was at 160k or something, last time I checked.. Seems doable.
Thanks for all the great feedback man! Much appreciated and couldn't have pulled this run off if it wasn't for your input
Btw, scouted your evidence submissions for any video, but only found some nice pics with Pacman Amiibo sitting there around hehe. So cool. I had him around as a mascot with my old setup too : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tupoigLvvyc .. Now I want to put him back there
Tried again after receiving a hint on my previous run. Was told by DuggerVideoGames to wait out my oil timer and collect as many flashing trophies as possible. Should have seen that before! More than doubled the score now. /joy
Go Pro went low bat sadly so only have the video is split screen. It's always something with this game. Previous run the audio would randomly stutter. Now my Go Pro fails to capture it all. Oh well... Or should I say Oil well.... The highscore run starts at 8:50
Thanks for the advice Dugger!
Will try a new run after I've dealt with the weird audio stuttering issue
Cheers!
As far as other sites go, I'm on remix64 / kwed, because of my Parallax remake.
Thanks for the suggestion on Lemon. Yeah I know that site pretty well, even from the days they still offered game downloads, but I hardly hang out much in online communities. Highscore is the exception I guess. But yeah, maybe see you around there as well!
Deym thought I went pretty well, then notice I only came in second on this site !
I wonder how Centauron got his 68270 on level 6 . I was only half his score on the same level. Probably milking trophies, but still.. Too bad there isn't any gameplay footage to take a peek at
Anyways, was having some audio issues while recording.
The 2nd last attempt starting at 0:35 was later on. I pulled out some footage because of trying to fix the audio issue. Because of fiddling around, all the gameplay footage from 0:35 onward isn't high quality anymore, because I had fooled around with the recording settings
The final run starting at 4:30 was a good one, so I still had to post it. Cramped up my left hand in the process. Oil's Well is intense stuff when playing hehe
BGM:
0:35 Easily Embarrassed - Sequence (EE4A)
4:04 Easily Embarrassed - Captain Bastian (EE4B)
8:10 Easily Embarrassed - The Capital (EE4B)
Yeah Fist was also an awesome series! You simply have to love'm both for similar and different reasons
For a 1983 C64 Frogger game this one simply looks fantastic..
It was also the first frogger I ever touched as a kid.
Have to admit the gameplay is a bit off. Other Frogger's usually play much smoother and in the end are more fun.. This is just nostalgica for me.
Hehe good you got it going now then. I'm sure you'll get up to black belt in no time after some practice rounds
Just some quick fun. Bad game that I think I played as a kid.
Thanks to Kernzy's earlier posted attempt to remind me of it :)
Didn't have my GoPro or phone setup to record myself playing.
Didn't seem needed or interresting for this one at this time...
Mission 1 beaten. That was the goal.
Game is pretty unforgiving and unfair at times :P
Music from my own studio used: Easily Embarrassed - Droid
Ah yes GB64.. Had already checked c64.com and did a google search as well. Apparently hard to find :)
That's the Remember version I think? You can just type A or B and it'll load that specific set of backgrounds. You should be fine with that one.. I played the B set :)
Disk swapping? Hmmm.. Ah I take it the original loops all the backgrounds and requires disk swapping for that or something?
I'm only familiar with these versions where a certain set of backgrounds is on loop. No disk swapping required.
Thanks Kernzy!
For my video's I've been using Sony Vegas Pro from the start and still learning new stuff in it little by little. In its basics it's childs play for the most part though and adding pictures is more or less a simple drag and drop from an explorer folder to a new frame.
The only weird thing then is the pan/crop tool, which is used to align everything. Especially when stuff is not matching the output aspect of the video you need to tell it to match the output aspect first before you pan the frame, otherwise it'll disappear behind invisible borders. Hmm bit hard to explain. You know it when you see it I guess :)
Cheers Derek! Yeah and the pup is Toadette. She was good the whole time sleeping there. Normally she ravages my toes or whatever :)
Wanted to strike a balance between farming and progressing. Sucks I couldn't reach the Alien Bar this way.
Final run with the high score starts around 13:50
Hehe love Duvel! Actually got a batch few weeks ago. I just drink them occasionally. But lovem
Arcade mode Krystal
1 credit gameplay
high (low) score run starts around 5:30
score 7227982
Used to play this a lot when it launched back in the day. (already 40hours on the timer god dyem). No idea why some Contra fans dismiss this one. Love this game!
These runs are genuine attempts at some form of high score for highscore.com. Restarted the first level a couple of times because of fail play.
Sometimes I play a decent game, like that last run is for 60% of the time, but I find it hard to string a really good play together. Need to program my subconscious robot better.
Frankly I forgot about much of the 3th level. Will take a while to get used to the whole thing again. Littlle by little improving. This score I got was close to the high score I posted on the live leaderboards back in the day, so we're getting there :)
Wonder if I should start farming more on each level. That'll get me easier towards something like http://www.highscore.com/scores/ArcadeEmulatedMAME/RootBeerTapper/11269
Improved over previous attempt that was even not yet accepted to the site yet.
Single run this time, although there was glitch at the start of the run. So went to reset inmediatly.
Played less stressed compared to last time. Reached Alien bar.. Then I lost it.... :P
Nowhere near my old high still....
Awesome stuff man. What we're doing on the emulated version is shameful compared to what you already put out on the real thing XD
Oh and ps... Give me your Suzo The Arcade stick please...:P
Video contains full xbox boot up and 2 runs in the game.
The 2nd run that goes with the posted score starts at 8:15. With the High Score posted at the very end of the video
Too bad that at this time I'm unable to come close to anywhere near my old high, which includes beating the alien bar I think. In fact I've gotten so slow I can't even get to the Alien bar! .. Oh well, maybe some other time then ^___^
Hehe I finally get it about TG.. So it's actually a site somewhat like this. Unlikely I posted there before, as I signed up just now :)
Cheers! It's just pilsner.. Heineken it was I believe, seeing it was a green bottle. I'm usually on this dutch Hertog Jan brand though, but those come in brown :)
Hehe yeah I know what you mean. Those 1st games stick with you forever. For me it's Jumpman Junior, Frantic Freddie and Choplifter. Sinked so many hours in those, deym.
Oh and Twin Galaxies? No idea actually... You mean that score that almost touched yours on Time Runner maybe?
Cheers man!
Hmm not sure what I submitted to TG. What is TG?
Well I guess if its accepted it should be good hehe
Checked your video on Spectipide. Never heard of that one before, but seems like a lot of good chaotic fun! I'll put it on the to do list
You like that one eh?
Cheers man!

Thanks for the recommendation.
I've seen that Commando version being commented on before. Never got around trying it.
Might as well get both of these now and try'em yeah. Cheers!
Voted Yes
No matter the system, I could never really get into Ghouls'n Ghosts. Guess that's why I never tried Ghost's and Goblins before. This one seems like a lot of fun though. I bet it still frustrates the hell out of you, doesn't it? Especially with those bosses jumping on you :D
This was a try for beating kernzy's 25,757 (that at the time of writing this, is submitted but still needs more votes to be accepted).
I forgot the exact target score while I was playing. If I knew I was that close I'd probably given it another shot. Guess I really wanted to go to bed. It was getting late XD
Still posting this to show you how I want to post evidence in the future. Probably want to get a better view of the controller next time?
Nice!
Voted yes. And thanks for reminding me I played this as a kid. Forgot all about it!
Must boot this up on the emulator later
That was awesome. Thumbs up and follow on tube tube from me.
First 3 minutes are just warmup / entertainment.
The run starts about 3 minutes in..High score at the very end.
