I dont really think that it's a matter of people not believing you actually did it. Pretty sure they generally hold the philosophy that cropped, spliced, ir edited video is an automatic no vote for them as a principle. I always assume the person submitting a video is doing so in good faith, however, my particular concern is that someone who *is* a cheating video editor will see a video like this, and then demand this community accept their cheated score and then point to this video and say, "But you accepted his!" This is a fair concern. The good news is that you dont need to include footage of yourself in your video. I rarely do, if for no other reason than knowing viewers arent interested in looking at the person who made the score, rather, they're interested in reviewing the game play. You dont even need a video camera. Simply Google "OBS", download it, and use it to capture the gameplay on your computer. At the end of the video recording before you hit "Stop recording", simply open up notepad and just type your name or initials. Showing yourself is not and has never been necessary. On the contrary, I'd discourage it, because nobody really cares to see it.

@RetroRob: The reason for this is because of the way the game was programmed. Essentially, there are two counters ... one frame counter that increments every frame. When the frame counter reaches 256, the system is polled to see if there is any controller activity at that moment. If there is, the frame counter is reset to 0 and starts all over again. If there isn't, then the other counter, the "Attract mode" counter, increments by one, and the frame counter is reset to 0 and starts incrementing again. Once the second counter reaches 256, the game assumes the player is idle and goes into "Attract Mode", which is the non-playable mode the game is in when you first turn the console on. This happens to everyone eventually. Tl;dr: You can sit still for only so long before the game thinks you've walked away.

@mbotelho: It does *not* come preloaded. You will need an SD card (costs extra to order the SD card with it), then you will need to format the SD card, then add ROMs to the SD card, then put the SD card into the Harmony Cart. It does come with instructions just in case you're not computer savvy. It's actually quite simple if you follow the instructions.

I haven't voted one way or the other on this, however, what I can tell you is that it is extraordinarily easy to start a game on a C64, then use any C64 RAM hex editor and enter any score one wishes, simply take a photo of the screen, submit that photo along with pictures of C64 stuff, and then declare the score is legit, and insist everyone just believe me just because I said I didn't cheat. Also, different sites have different standards. Some sites dont even require a picture ... just your word that you got the score. Other sites, unlike this one, REQUIRE full video of the entire gameplay. This site doesnt *require* a video, however, dont be surprised if most people dont simply take someone at their word that they got the score, and want more than just a picture in order to vote yes on your score. I'll be honest here, and try to help. I think you might be getting a bunch of no votes due to arcade games not typically having the ability for direct capture video ... which is what this clearly is. All indicators point to this being played via emulation. Maybe it isnt, but voters have no way of knowing that. That, and all emulated performances are required to be submitted under the same fame in the Emulator category. Also, You do have the ability if you wish to remove your own scores and simply resubmit to the proper category. Hope this helps!

You can submit all the evidence in the world, a blood sample, and your first born, and some dweeb will still vote no. It happens to everyone, every day. As long as your legit rating ends up being 80% or higher, it will pass and become accepted. Pay no mind to the no voting trolls.

Take it however you wish, but as for me when I first joined here, when I submitted my first batch of scores, they all had complete video of all gameplay, all hardware setup, power cycle, and timestamps, my scores were all rejected even though MY FACE was in the video footage, because I "didnt show my initials". To answer your questions about adding YouTube videos to your scores, it is quite simple.

All of your YouTube videos have a serial number, so to speak. There are two different ways that YouTube generates the URL for you to "share" your video link. Highscore.com uses only one of them, and the other will not work.

This is the format that works when you are submitting your evidence on HighScore.com:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXzDFroFvF0

This is the format that DOES NOT WORK:

https://youtu.be/MXzDFroFvF0

Notice that the first one has "youtube.com", but the second has "youtu.be". That's the easiest way to spot the difference. At any rate, if you have difficulty copying and pasting the link into the YouTube link field when you are submitting your score, you can simply type "www.youtube.com/watch?v=" and then add your serial number to the end of it after the "v=" part (the serial number in the example above is the "MXzDFroFvF0".

Regarding "lobbying for stricter rules": I don't think I've seen anyone lobbying for *any* rules, much less stricter ones. I have, however, seen quite a few people simply convey that it may be helpful to those who are complaining about all of the no votes they're getting on their photos to submit a video, too, which would all but eliminate the thing they're complaining about. Serious has clearly indicated that there *aren't even any rules*. There is no "rule" to include your name and initials in the evidence, either, however, it appears as though that is something the voters look for in order to vote yes on a score. Things evolve, and apparently looking for video in order to earn a yes vote from some people are part of that evolution. Other people literally only trying to HELP by suggusting you include video to facilitate getting YOUR scores passed (not their scores, but YOURS) is not "bullying". What *is* bullying, however, is all these attempts to gaslight, insult, and manipulate other people into voting on your scores based on YOUR standards, not theirs .. .and I'm sorry, but that's not how a voting process works. As for me, I personally don't care if it's a video or a photo ... the records on this site can in no way ever be construed as a serious, legitimate world record in any official capacity whatsoever, so I GET IT ... stringent rules and requirements would be pointless. But again, there aren't any rules anyway ... there is simply more people now that look for video in order to vote yes than there were before. I also get that it can be tough for players who for years had gotten used to scribbling some arbitrary number on a piece of toilet paper and having that accepted as legitimate by the community ... but communities evolve, and it looks like that is what has happened here. So instead of bullying voters into accepting what they consider your evidence to be as "substandard", how about simply taking the extra 15 seconds and simply do what it takes to get the yes votes and be done with it?

Lastly, Larquey ... I haven't seen you complain lately about no votes on your submissions. Why is that? I can bet it's because you did what it took to stop getting all the no votes and started including video on most of your submissions, yes? So if that was an easy enough transition process for you, why would you validate another gamer's complaint about no votes they're getting due only to him (up until now, I suppose) not doing what you felt you had to do, then did it, then the problem stopped?

You need absolutely the highest skill level to get 5.61. You need to be a master to pull it off so many times that eventually you'll get the 5.77, so not really luck, just so much skill that you have to frequently get perfect runs ... like ... many of them.

... on a final note, from what I have been told by other members in confidence (so I won't be revealing all of their names) the prevailing philosophy has now become this: if gamers can afford a dozen game systems and hundreds if not thousands of games, they can afford a $10 webcam to record video ... and I have to be honest, they make a good point. With regard to the whole "but that takes more time and hassle!", well ... so does taking extra time to do useless, retarded, stupid steps like adding names and/or initials to tye evidence, but yet we do it. @atari2600forever: That would depend on how far back you define "the past", because as far as I can tell based on the forums, this site has had no-voting "issues" for many years now ... like ... years-in-a-row. I'm not quite so sure it is jealously, at least in my case, because typically the voter will indicate why they voted no, sometimes right in the comments section. For example: I submitted scores where I didnt have my name or initials in my video, and quite a few people voted no because of that, EVEN THOUGH MY FACE WAS IN THE VIDEO TALKING LOL! In my personal opinion, that is literally the dumbest ass requirement I have ever seen in my entire life. Instead of getting upset at a good portion of the community, I looked inward and examined what I could do to avoid all the NO votes, no matter how absurdly retarded and useless as putting initials on a piece of paper in the evidence is, as if doing that actually means something or as if it means the score is more legitimate. But it is what it is, and if the objective is to not get no votes, I did what it took to stop it from happening. Even so, every score I submit has video showing hardware, all game play, settings, my name, with tye final score clear and readable and I even include timestamps in the comments for every score ... and I *still* get no votes ... but I do get enough yes votes to have them pass, which is the entire goal, no?

I get no votes all the time. As long as my score passes, I could care less. Its not like the overall Legit rating has any meaning after that JoshGamerDude or whatever came in and drive everyones rating down. Dont be angry and leave just because of a few no votes that dont even affect your scores passing. If you find that you are getting more than one or two no votes on every score and that bugs you, perhaps an examination of how you are submitting is in order. Thats what I did when I first got here and now I get the usual one or two no votes and my scores pass. Hell... no voters actually help get scores passed quicker, and the trolls probably dont even realize it LOL

What I find puzzling is that someone is actually voting yes on any of your submissions. Send me a message if you need help or guidance on how to submit scores here. I agree 100%! If someone can't handle hours of repetitive manual firing, they just adjust their button pushing technique rather than being lazy by using autofire. Fortunately, most high score websites won't accept any performace with autofire being used. As a result, if you have conditioned yourself by developing a manual firing technique, you can slaughter high scores on games where firing speed is all that matters, like Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600.

@doguhnew: I know *I* certainly wouldnt blame anyone for not wasting 12 hours of their life away watching my 7M Defender score. I sure as hell wouldn't watch 12 hours of *anything* LOL, much less someone else's video game performance. Two things: 1. Validation of long plays are inherently being crowd sourced. Between everyone viewing 5 or so minutes of footage, you get enough of them and likely any evidence of foul play in that video will eventually be caught due to the sheer numbers of viewers watching various small portions of footage. 2. Not only that, but as the submitting player, the video acts as a built-in defense mechanism if someone were to accuse the player of malfeasnace. The player could simply respond, "Oh yeah? Where in the video do you see what you are claiming?", and effectively shuts down any controversy before it even starts, from that point forward. 3. It give voters an opportunity to assuage any concerns about the legitimacy of the run. The footage is there to peruse at their own leisure.

Hey Rob! Thanks for the heads up. Although the difficulty switch *appeared* to be set to B, you will notice that the bullets flying during the game I scored the 99 were the smaller bullets, which necessarily means that the switch setting was A. I had submitted this on another high score site under the "B" category, and it was rejected (correctly so) because although the switch may appear to the camera to be on "B" (and I may even have said 'difficulty B'), the gameplay proves it was played on A, so it was rejected. If I were to submit here this under difficulty B (which I wouldn't ... I already have a maxout on the diff B category), it would likely be rejected as well, because the gameplay does not reflect a B setting.

I see dudes on here who literally submit nothing but photos, that's cool and all, and I'll vote yes on their scores if they're like 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. (even 2nd) ... but if they're the top score, I just won't vote on it at all, and let the rest of the community decide if that's the route they want to continue to go down. Seldomly will I vote no for a photo ... it does happen, but not often. One would have figured we would have learned from our mistakes with the Liduario fiasco not too long ago. Perhaps the 6 no votes the person who wrote that comment received is because the community at large is transitioning away from accepting just a photo anymore ... too many people have been busted too many times submitting too many fake scores ... not saying he is, but people have, and maybe the community is finally fed up with it ... which is why he's getting 6 no votes. I highly doubt those 6 no votes are from the same person with a troll account, otherwise, everyone else would also have 6 no votes somewhere ... and the only ones complaining about no-voting "trolls" for video are ... you guessed it ... people who aren't submitting video for #1 scores. Oh well.

This is the way I see it. If a someone getting a #1 score is important enough to them, then they probably should deem it important enough to have some sort of video proof to go with the recognition they'll get for being the top dog. For scores like 4th, 5th, 6th place, etc., then to be honest, I really don't care if they have video or just a photo. One thing to also consider ... what if you're the first person to submit to that track? In my honest opinion, that needs video. Not everyone is going to know what "First-Trophy" scores are "easy" or "hard" to beat ... and what may be easy to one may not be easy to another ... or even anyone else. What we don't need is to have a first-trophy score become a target for the community to begin questioning its legitimacy when 2, 3, or 4 years pass and nobody is able to beat it (or people don't even try). That does the community no good, and to be honest, that does the actual player who got the score (but only submitted a photo) no good, either.

Like other Atari 2600 titles, Gorf does not "roll over" to 0 until you hit 700,000. Instead, when you reach 100,000, Gorf displays a modified digit Sprite in the 10,000s place (left-most score digit). That "symbol" changes every 10,000 points. You'll notice if you look closely at the picture that the "2" in the 10,000s place is different than the "2" a couple of places to it's right side.
