So far for me, it is taking about 1.5 months to get 25 yes votes on my submissions. Is that normal for this site?
... and that's just tracks that I know I can handily beat in one playing session (max: ~2 or 3 attempts) I'll concentrate on scores that may take me more than my first try a bit later.
Moreover, tracks like this one (and dozens of others here lately) are simply low-hanging fruit that no doubt will soon be overtaken by anyone even *remotely* skilled at the game. My only concern was beating the current trophy holder ;-) Mission accomplished LOL! That makes 73 so far. Only 326 to go LOL!
Thank you for that assessment ... kinda makes me blush, but in all honesty, I have a couple of buddies that totally smash my skill level in MANY Atari 2600 titles ... <<cough cough @nads cough cough>>

I really would love to get my hands on a manual. I think after I'm done with collecting commercial release big-brand carts, I'll start with homebrews. I'm starting to dig 'em. I just received a nice gift of a homebrew called "Amoeba Jump". It is FUN!
I think that may have something to do with NTSC working at 30fps, and although the studio recording software I use works at 60fps, YouTube may compress the hell out of the video when you upload one, causing a video that skips every other frame. Since Atari programming works using scanlines, it draws, erases, and redraws sprites dozens of times per second. If the timing is just off with the compression, exactly HALF of the scans won't be visible, meaning you may not see every sprite every time. I wish there was another way to upload the higher quality video or host the video somewhere other than YouTube. I'll take any suggestions.
You are correct. This video does NOT belong under emulator. I'll resubmit under the appropriate track.

Regarding your earlier comment, the official WR for this is game is 1.65 million (done on Game 7, Diff B), which at approx. 225,000 points per hour pace would take about 7.5 hours to beat, which I'll be doing in about 2 or 3 weeks from now (I try to do 2 marathons a month), so look for this submission to fall before it even is done being voted on. ;-) I just submitted a 1.35 million score for Game 7, Difficulty A. I had to stop because the wife cooked dinner, and I wouldn't want to be that guy who turns down a superbly cooked meal, nor the guy whose wife worked about 2 hours on it just to tell her "hold on while I play video games" ... that could be hazardous to one's health LOL!

It's probably the closest, but not exactly equal to. In Game 9 of the Atari 2600 version, you get no extra lives at all. In the arcade, you get one at 5k and another at 10k, I believe. Game 6 would probably be the closest to the arcade (shooting robots, invincible Evil Otto, and extra lives every 2k).
I love this game! ... and I also vote yes! (but not because I love the game, of course LOL!)

By the way, did I see you mention somewhere that you're an admin for this site? Because if so, something is *really* irritating me. My hometown says Sanford, Washington DC. I do not live in DC, Sanford is in Florida heh heh. Who would I contact to have that fixed? I saw nowhere within my profile where it allows me to change my location.
Not necessarily. Different PAL versions have differing effects. For example, my PAL version of Frostbite shows black and white, but the screen doesn't roll, where as my PAL version of Tennis (also by Activision), the screen rolls. I have, however, heard of a few PAL carts being playable on an NTSC system, however, I have seen no evidence that you can ... but I have no reason to doubt it.

Perhaps not anymore, which is likely why the cheater hasn't been around for several months. But that joystick above was won by the cheater on this site in a contest back in 2016, so I'm assuming that was his incentive/advantage.
The only bad part is for their "perfect" timed runs and max-outs, there is no way to clean that up ... one could only tie, and therefore, become second place or lower, so that mess will remain, but all others will be gone eventually.
The offender also has a nasty habit of deleting his YouTube videos when a commenter points out proof within the video that it was either save-state runs pieced together using video-editing software or simply a Tool-assisted run. Indeed, the cheater has a few entries still on this where the YouTube link is no longer valid for that reason. But all is well. I am systematically cleaning up the cheater's mess, but it'll take some time, because their mess is all over the place. I've already cleaned about a couple of dozen records, and I anticipate cleaning about at least a dozen per week, starting with the low-hanging fruit ;-)

Man, I *LOVE* it when that happens. Every now and then, you find a gem that nobody else came across, and ya get it *real* cheap. That is awesome!
"... accused of using "save states" and of editing their videos ..." - I wish it were that inconclusive and merely just an accusation, but proof was given, and the offender immediately deleted all of his incriminating videos, using some other user "being ill" as his excuse for deleting the damning evidence. Peculiar enough, the second person I referred to above who played video/picture time-machine with his scores immediately jumped to the cheater's defense. Birds of a feather I suppose.
Thank you Ivan!
Thank you! And no worries on the double posting ... I hit that stinkin' button twice all the time in different forums. ;-)
"but I hope that they [Dragster dude] are no longer here." - I don't see any evidence he was ever here, and all of his scores were removed from TwinGalaxies awhile ago. Not sure how they used to run before I got there, but there is no way a cheater will not get exposed with the scrutiny that goes into every record submission. Not even possible. Their standards are extraordinarily strict, which is likely why these two don't have profiles there (at least that I could find). Their scores would be flat out rejected before you could say the sentence, "Ironically, I have literally videos on my YouTube channel advising how to avoid using prohibited events like save states on emulators!", and they'd likely be banned from submitting any additional scores.
... Sweet find on that Demolition Herby, though!!! Good price, too!
Yes, I know who you are referring to ... the Dragster guy who used to work as a ref for TG. He's old news ... the cheater that was mentioned was not him, and the different sources that have called the cheater who posts scores on this site out gave some pretty conclusive, damning evidence. It just may be likely that some of the cheater's scores are legit, however, the several he and the other guy who likes posting pictures years after his "interrupted video" was busted cheating on calls into question their integrity, and makes me question every single one of their scores. Since this particular site has no challenge or dispute component, the only way to mitigate the damage the cheaters do is simply to beat all of their score and do it the right way, putting the record-breaking performance on public display for all to see and scrutinize. Otherwise, hell ... I could simply use keyboard macros, or a program like AutoHotKey which can make Tool-Assisted runs, rack the score up, and then "take a picture" a couple years later, and claim my score was legit ... just like these guys. Nah ... I'll take the integrity route. There are no performances I would not be willing to duplicate should my old performances not prove the score, but merely prove that I know how to work an emulator with save-states and a camera. If you're good enough to get a world record, you can be good enough twice. ;-)

"I can't touch @nads...on most games"Don't worry ... nobody else on the planet can, either LOL
Short answer: I Google searched "Atari 2600 high score cheaters", and in one of the results, this website came up.
There were a few posts in a different website regarding people cheating on high score forums, with one person (who shall remain nameless) being literally the worst offender: i.e. getting caught submitting impossible scores, submitting a high scores with partial video, doctored video, using save states, etc. Another person accused of submitting a high score using only partial video, then years later uploading a "photo" showing the score they claim they got. Which is funny, because using an emulator, I can achieve any score on any game, simply take a photo, then claim I got that score ... so I joined up here to beat their fake scores, and some of their real ones too LOL, except all of my scores are literally real-time video recordings, most even including me using the controller.
LOL! Takes practice ... in my case, about 37 years worth LOL!

Uh ... I mean it is *not* even a required component. Too bad we can't edit comments LOL
Audio is messed up, but I'm pretty sure audio being present is even a required component.

Thank you!! I love the John Candy avatar, btw!
Thank you, Mr Pong!
Thank you! I'm glad to be here!
Very soon, I will be beginning to buy every homebrew cart AtariAge has. I only have a few holes in my collection, and Homebrews are the biggest hole.
@Bamse, @doguhnew - Thank you!
@omargeddon - Thank you!
@Mark - thank you! And yes!!! There are quite a few games where I can't even get *close* to what @nads accomplishes. That dude is a 2600 beast!

Notable:Some bizarre crap happens after hitting 171,770 ... the background turns red and the score resets to zero. Apparently, programmers included a hard-coded aggregate timer that instantiates a kill screen if the joystick is left alone for a certain amount of time during a single game.

Thank you, Bamse ... I have indeed added a little something to all of my *new* videos since joining this site (all the submissions you see were performances done before joining here.) I actually have my real name, Garrett Holland, literally on the screen with my picture in the form of a mocked up Activision cart LOL! Great advice, and advice I have taken ... uh ... kinda to the extreme IMHO ;-)
