You'll have to go higher than that. Someone posted a fake high score in the 74k range. You can tell it's fake because it doesn't have the overflow error that makes high scores negative.
I was excited to see my record broken, but this is not correct. Oregon Trail Deluxe has an overflow error that shows high scores over a certain amount as negative numbers. Which means this can't be an actual high score.
Ah I appreciate that advice. I thought since my main character had the same name as my profile that it would be fine. Next time I post something I'll be sure to include a text box or something with my info in it.
Someone requested "to see better evidence of the settings of the game, system, or emulator."
Emulator used was: https://survivingtheoregontrail.com/free-activities/oregon-trail-deluxe-free-online-game/
It's Oregon Trail Deluxe, so there really aren't difficulty settings. My score page shows that I was a Teacher. That's about the only thing that impacts score in any meaningful way. Otherwise the settings I primarily used are Steady Pace, and Filling Rations as shown in the photos, but those aren't difficulty levels that effect the score. It's more just a measurement of how much risk you are willing to take.
System used was a run of the mill Macbook Air.
If you beat my score, I won't even be mad. Pretty sure I have irreversable carpel tunnel from this, so I'm done.
Thanks! Totally did it just to beat your score. Not even gonna lie about it.
I'm not sure why the same thing keeps posting ^^. I only posted it once. Sorry everyone.
Can the person who voted negatively please explain why?
Oregon Trail Deluxe has a glitch where the algorithm can't count numbers over a certain amount. So anything over ~16,000 registers as a seemingly random negative number. Go ahead and check the proofs of all the highest scoring users. 5321 * 3.5 = 18623.5. Good job @JamesGeddes
You are incorrect, Oregon Trail deluxe has a glitch that registers seemingly random negative numbers when you score over a certain amount. The math checks out. Good job @gillfamilytoruga
Ironically I got a higher score while recording the video from the last save point. So I guess the high score is now 50,249.
I still have the game open on my last save (last photo), so if anyone want's further proof just let me know. The food on the save is different from the final score, because it was 64 miles from the end. I tried really hard to max everything, except one single bullet, but I just couldn't get my food to stay at full no matter how hard I tried.
I played it on https://survivingtheoregontrail.com/free-activities/oregon-trail-deluxe-free-online-game/, which has some pretty rough keyboard glitches that really killed progress. I'm willing to bet there's a more reliable place to play.
@AA Not gonna lie, I spent way too much time just trying to pass that crazy high 47k score. I wouldn't have gone nearly as far if you didn't set the bar so high.
