nice, I was expecting this!   that beats my all-time personal best

being only on level 17 with 422k is a great scoring rate.

so you were only on level 19 at the end?  that's fantastic!  my best scores were in the 495-499k range & I had to survive until about level 24-30 or so to get that many points.

but as I said before I am lacking some skill which I haven't discovered yet.

unfortunate it's not the whole video I'd love to see your gameplay.  I'm also curious, what level did you start at?   I like to start about level 16.  I think it gives me the best scoring chances but I'm not sure.

full video would also clear any doubts as to whether you used emulation or what-not.   but other than save-states & slow-down I don't think there's any way to cheat at Tetris.

NOTE:

if this is the PAL version as the caption in the video states, that means it is HARDER.  the pieces move a little faster, so no need to question if that's an advantage; it is not.

Actually, most (all?) PAL games move SLOWER.

I've been thinking about this for a while.. I think we might need different charts for PAL and NTSC when it comes to certain consoles (and computers).

Through emulation we PAL people has experienced true NTSC game playing, and there's no doubt NTSC speed games plays way better. On some NES/SNES games it's painfully slower.. Final Fight and Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros 1 etc comes to mind..

I can't say it's easier to play on a PAL console/computer. I find it harder and more frustrating after you've played games through emulation.

Here's a great forum post i've come by when i wanted to get more knowledge about the issue. Can't say i've been thinking about it more since then. Check it out.

Check out the VC wiki about PAL issues:

Also read this thread on Lemon64:

I think it's time to address those issues to Serious.

And ofcourse it OFTENLY "easier" to play on a PAL console due to the slow speed.

It is the PAL-Version and I play on a original NES :)

Unfortunately I have no whole video! I had planned only to make two or three training-games.

When I realized what score I had, I stopped and pulled out my Iphone to make this small video.

I always starts on level 9.

By the way. In this forum you can read much interesting things about playing Tetris!

@Sixx:

ah, yeah good to see you found the same.  it's usually as you say, the other way around but looking into it I found Tetris goes faster.

@Stiban79:

oh k. level 9...  I still don't know what is the best to start on for most possible points when reaching L19.  I've been too lazy to do the math!
