Played at Hyperspace Arcade in Denver, Colorado. Huge machine, one I don't remember ever playing in the arcade. Cheers!

This game has such awesome music!  I actually own the original one I played as a kid from a local arcade (including the paperwork showing delivery to that location when it was purchased), but it's now missing the center monitor, though it boots and plays!  Need to fix it up soon and play it again!  Always glad to see these up and running in public!  Grinker's has one in Idaho, and I know Jon from 1-Up in Denver has at least one, though I don't know if it's just in his private collection or not. (Maybe this is his? I don't know the history of Hyper Space Arcade).  And I sold one a couple years ago through him to someone in Arizona.

Oh wow, cool. That machine reminds me of Tecmo Bowl, large, multiple screens. I'm not entirely sure if Hyperspace has any affiliation with 1UP. Next time I've over at the Blake street bar I'll ask. How much did you sell the Darius machine years ago? I had a Popeye upright and Arkanoid Cocktail but sold them in the late 90s. I now wish I held onto those, but had no room for them at the time.

@ILLSeaBass:

The Darius was somewhere in the $1500 range plus shipping.  I got extremely lucky that a friend found it in an old storage unit that was being auctioned off.  And the one I currently own has been in another friend's warehouse for countless years until he offered it to me since we both shared that experience of having played it when it was in our local arcade.  I'm not even a huge fan of those kind of shooters, but knowing it's the real game I played as a kid is the sole reason I'll never sell this one (unless it's back to him some day.)  That nostalgia's a powerful thing.  :)
