My first Amiga score here on Highscore! ... In the pictures you can see the original game disk but the game's ROM is running from a Gotek drive on a real Amiga 500 (no hardware emulation!).

Very nice. Love R-Type and love the Amiga. My fav game on both the 500 and the C64 was Project Stealth Fighter. Not a popular choice I know but I spent many hundreds of hours playing it.

Yes on all yes

YES on ALL! :)

This Arcade hit was ported to numerous platforms. The best the I own is the Sega Master System port, which is very good. :)

Many thanks, Mark! ... It's interesting that you mention the Sega Master System! I just bought one last week but need to do it up a bit and equip it with accessories and games. Now I know one of the games I could get for it! ;-)

The everdrive is quite cheap

I've heard about the everdrive. It's similiar to gotek, isn't it? If disks would be more durable I would stick with them. I still like to use modules, disks even CDs more than ROMs on an sd card or USB stick.

In addition to my North American SMS (Model 1) I also own a Japanese SMS, which is compatible with games released for the Sega SG-1000, Sega Mk. III, as well as the Othello Multivision.

Good luck with your SMS. It's a well made console. I bought mine brand new back in the day and it has never failed me.

Good evidence.  yes

I'm guessing you've played the arcade version.  Is this easier or harder?

This is the only version of R-Type on Amiga that I know. Do you know different versions?

I meant the Amiga versus the original arcade cabinet.

It's been too long ago that I played the arcade version. Too long to tell how difficult it was in comparison to the Amiga. Maybe arcade felt more difficult as inserting coins hurts more than resetting and starting over on Amiga? XD
