Shark Attack (Atari 2600 Novice/B)

My light-sixer crapped out on me the other day - faulty capacitor I think. Gonna have to pop it open this weekend. Nothing wrong with a model 1 junior though! :)

First vote, and it's YES! 

I gave my original Heavy-sixer to another Youtuber. I bought it in late '77 or early '78. I even sent her the original box. It was an early one made in the U.S. With my Woody 4-switch the power switch developed a short. So, I bought a 2600 Jr. It died. So now I own a second 2600 Jr. (and still have the Woody 4-switch).

What was the issue?  Not sending a signal to the TV?

Well, I went to try to play CBS's Solar Fox cartridge - and my screen began to roll very rapidly - which isn't too unusual in itself - this kind of thing happens when you stumble across the occasional PAL cartridge, of course - but this was definitely an NTSC cart. So, I thought I might have a corrupted ROM or something, went to load Berzerk up, (which was working fine immediately before hand) and now none of my other cartridges work on that machine. Not only are they rolling hard, they're also extremely garbled up. This might sound ridiculously ignorant - but its almost as if i've somehow corrupted something in my machine -or, coincidentally something has just failed now. I am worried to pop that cartridge into my Model 1 Jr. now, haha. That's the gist of it, I've poked around Atariage, but wasn't able to find any info on this particular kind of scenario. Apologies for the wall of text. :)

Interesting. I have a ColecoVision console with that same problem. It was like that when I got it though. 

I don't know what the problem is, I thought maybe it's a PAL machine, but your story makes that seem less likely.

Thanks, Mark! I'm probably going to try to pick up another console soon myself - maybe a vader, or maybe i'll splurge a little bit and pick up a sunnyvale 6. 

Yeah, its definitely a peculiar one - I might just have to chock this one up to bit-goblins. :)

I wish the Atari Flashbacks had a cartridge slot. I own the Atari Flashback 6 and Atari Flashback 7. I've added the Atari Flashback 8 Gold Edition, Intellivision Flashback, and Coleco Flashback to my Amazon Wish List. Who knows, my wife might get me one of them for Christmas (although I've been lobbying hard for a Nintendo Switch).

There's always the Retron77.  But then again, for that price why not just get an Atari?
