River Patrol; Atari 2600/Emulation; Difficulty Switches: b/b. Port of the arcade game of the same name. This game is quite rare (Rarity Rating 9 = Extremely Rare), so I've ordered a Custom Reproduction from Atari Age. The manual scan at Atari Age makes no mention of the Difficulty Switches, so I assume the A/Expert category is in the system erroniously. This game is unusual for a 2600/VCS game of the era in that it has music throughout. Are all Tigervision games rare? I know that Miner 2049er is. ... Yes vote of course!
@RetroRob:
Thanks Rob. I checked the Rarity Guide at Atari Age and the games from Tigervision range between 5 and 7 on the scale. Only River Patrol, at 9, goes above 7 on the scale. 5s to 7s should be doable as I recently scored a near mint (cartridge only) Demolition Herby, handle cartridge version. It's a 7. At any rate, here is the Tigervision page of the Rarity Guide: https://atariage.com/company_page.html?CompanyID=35&SystemID=2600&SystemFilterID=2600 Here is my most recent blog post. It covers an upcoming home brew from Packrat Video Games (yes, I've ordered one eventhough they aren't available yet). http://atariage.com/forums/blog/760/entry-15747-home-brew-report-packrat-video-games-for-your-atari/

Thanks. I've got that tune stuck in my head, but it's worth it. :) |
