@Bamse:
Your post bummed me out. You want to know why? The CPU chip in my Intellivision died and the repair place that I took it too told me that it was impossible to fix because the CPU chip was custom made for Mattel and impossible to source a replacement. They must not have known what they were talking about. Anyway, I threw my Intellivision and Intellivoice Module away. I also traded all of my CIB Intellivision games in for other games, except for the rare Statium Mud Buggies, which I gave to a viewer on my YouTube channel. That game is very hard to find a loose copy of, much less my CIB copy. Let's see. On my channel I also gave away a CIB Atari VCS Heavy Sixer to a viewer in the U.S., a box full of CIB Atari Jaguar games to a viewer in Japan, and traded 3 boxes of CIB Atari 2600 games with a viewer in the U.K. in exchange for 2 boxes full of European exclusives for the Sega Master System.
@Mark:
Oh no Mark I didn't repair it but was told it had overheated and was replaced along with the 8 caps and the pcb. To be honest, maybe your repair guy couldn't remove the cpu, iv'e seen that sometimes chips get fused to the board. I woud assume the guy that repaired mine used a doner chip. So sorry you don't have your Intellivision anymore, you've said before you miss it. Thanks for the yes vote Mark and sorry I bummed you out. Whats your Youtube Channel called?
@Bamse:
My YouTube channel is called cessnaace, as in an ace at flying a Cessna. I use to fly Cessnas as part of my flight training, but had to give it up due to a car accident when I was 28 (I'm now 60). Here is a link to my account: https://www.youtube.com/user/cessnaace I haven't posted a new video in about 3 years, although I still have subscribers asking me when I'm coming back, and the answer is 'as soon as I can.' My channel doesn't just cover games, although that's how it started. I also have huge collections of DVDs, LaserDiscs, Die Cast vehicles, etc. In fact my Trailer Video is of my Film Projector Collection (I collect 16mm film prints too). While I've been inactive as a poster I'm a very active YouTube subsciber (approx. 2,000 channels) so my Viewing History might prove interesting. I also support YouTubers through Patreon. One of the channels that I support is a gamer than I've known on YouTube for ages. "Guru" Larry Bundy, Jr. He's told me that he's just waiting for me to come back, and then he'll give my channel a push, which is cool. "Guru" Larry's channel
@Mark:
Thanks Mark. I to used to collect DVD's Still have about 2000 of them. Always loved Laser Discs but have never actually bought one. I'll take a look at those channels Wow, Bamse, your Intellivision is a champ! That's like breaking your leg in a fight and then challenging the same guy again as soon as it's healed xD |
Last time I went for high score with Astrosmash my inty overheated and fried the cpu chip.
Wanted to try again when I got it back from repair and after nearly five and a half hours of play, this is the fruits of my labour
That and a very sore thumb and a splitting headache
Played on an Intellivision I as per the pictures.
