This is an amazing Japanese exclusive Famicom game from Konami. Really a shame it didn't come out in America because its very fun. Of course Ive read tha5t half the fun of the game is the jokes about feudal Japan and its real life protagonist, a renown thief who like Robin hood stolid from the rich and gave to the poor. Anyway while it has been called a beat'em up Id say its more like a side scrolling shooter/adventure/platformer/awesomeness. Unfortunately I have yet to make it past level 4 >:(
