The game seems to be running slower than it should, does this delegitimize the run?

I recently now download the European version and it is a bit slow European version ... If it is valid in HS .. there are many games in European version .. vary the FPS ... Atari, Nintendo Etc. It is valid Mike ...

found this video which shows speed differences between 60hz & 50hz (NTSC/PAL). Voting YES now as it's legit / run is on 50hz ROM yes

Oh.. I feel embarrassed now. I usually like try to play the USA version but didn't realize I was playing Euro. I swear I wasn't trying to get an unfair advantage over Felix or Omar and everyone else on the leaderboard. I hadn't even considered the 50 Hz or 60 Hz issue. If you say it's legit then ok but I rather would take it down IF everyone else played on the faster 60 Hz US version. I played this at 4 in the morning so some fatigue came into play. I figured I had a shot at 500k, my personal best was closer to 400 actually and yeah I go and do this. Level playing field is paramount in what I do here. Still gonna go back and try this on US version and see if I can repeat.

No votes for "doctored evidence" and don't trust the user for "past actions" and legit issues? Now I know THAT is a load of crap courtesy of the troll trash squads.

At my own discretion, PAL / NTSC DOESN'T matter for score submissions!

At Atari Age High Score Clubs Forums and here on, there are members located in the region of the world whose video format is PAL (nominal frequency is 50 Hz), specially Europe and Australia.

Infos about TV Format at Atari Age:

I asked to the moderator of 2600 High Score Club at Atari Age Forums, who will be VOCELLI for the next season (2018) - "Does Color Format (PAL - 50 FPS / NTSC - 60 FPS) matter in this HSC?"

CapitanClassic said: "I would say no. The HSC has players from all around the world, I am sure someone is in a location that only has PAL TVs. It would be a shame to force them to play it on emulators if they have the real hardware. "

Vocelli said:

"No. It does not matter. And for the record.... Emulation is not preferred but I understand that it is needed because we do not own all the games (although I am trying, lol).

That's fine to use emulation but PLEASE... OH PLEASE... be honest.

Sometimes it is disheartening for Hardware players to see someone post a high score on Emulation not knowing what goes on behind the 'flip this switch/moving this switch/using that switch'. Sometime I question if I should give extra points to Hardware users. But then there is 'cart frying' and 'bugs'.

So PLEASE... nothing is won here... just play for fun and try to make it fun for all and we can see our HSC continue to be a success."

With these considerations, any color format is ALLOWED at my own discretion.

@Ivanstorm1973: Hey Ivan, I got 570k twice in the US/JP version. Don't know if that is of any consideration. It did seem a bit faster, not necessarily harder. I had more trouble dodging bolts the next time I appreciate everyone's input. I like this game a lot too.

Highscore is and always has been a region free site, for better or worse that’s how it is. Euro/pal rom or us/ntsc rom you’re good to go.

At TG they separate the two formats which is fine but it does thin competition between North America and Europe

Are you going to go for a run on a real NES any time soon?

@TB303: Considering it. Real NES is expensive to find nowadays. Our old front loader was impossible to boot up anything

Some day I'll go for this score. I always go with US version, even though I grew up on European. You're right. European is slower, running on 40 (or 50?) Hz, against US 60 Hz. Had something to do with electrical sockets or something. I thought about that too, if the European version should be considered cheating on an international scoreboard. Then again, it is an legit version, not a cracked, and it's emulated.
