I have the SG-1000 release, although I don't have an SG-1000. It plays fine on my Japanese Sega Master System (I believe the Japanese SMS is quite rare now).

Nice! I think you can post SG-1000 scores with your SMS and SG-1000 games.

I already had some scores for Sega SG-1000 and Sega Mark III games approved some time ago that I played on my Japanese SMS (I have a North American SMS Model 1 as well). They look the same, with slight differences. The Japanese SMS has the hardware for Rapid Fire, FM Sound Chip support, and 3-D built into it. So to play the 3-D games there is only a mini-plug that you plug the 3-D glasses into. So the card slot is not needed to play 3-D games. The mini-plug is directly beside the card slot. The cartridge slot is smaller though, since Sega made the Japanese SMS to be fully backwards compatible with games released for their earlier systems. The card slots are the same size on both, but Japanese My Cards will not run on a Western SMS, as the Japanese console uses a different BIOS than any other SMS systems.

Scores that I will most probably not submit here are for Game Gear exclusives that the homebrew community transfered to SMS EPROM cartridges, complete with SMS cases and artwork. They run fine as the basic hardware is the same, but they would probably not be considered kosher here.

I would accept it, the Game Gear runs MS games with a little adaptor... and I would assume vice-versa.

which makes things pretty hilarious as far as categorization goes...

The above list includes games that were originally Game Gear exclusives. There are more that I own that I didn't list, simply because I didn't want to take the time to search thru boxes and boxes of games. laugh
