I don't understand, is autofire allowed on pc engine ?

I red on TG that it is built in the TG16, but on the PC Engine, it is not (I have to enable it on my controller, which is not given with the console).

M'ok, and so, Can I enable autofire on my controller to play games that wasn't intended to have it ? Because of this feature on the TG16, and because the 2 consoles are merged on HS

Turbofire was standard for every Turbografx-16 game in 1989 and afterwards. The PCE didn't have autofire originally in 1987 but that was the Japanese console only.

Yes, I have a PCE Duo-R and I don't have autofire. but I can enable it on my controller (it's not the default one), my question is : is it allowed to activate autofire on games that don't have autofire by default or it is forbidden on HS ? (because it's not the default setup).

If not, we have a major problem, because TG16 users have an advantage on PCEngine users, they even have two, because the TG16 "PAL version) is 50 Hz instead of 60, making the games easier to master (I don't know if your TG16 is 50 PAL or 60 Hz NTSC and I am not saying your score isn't legitimate, I just want to clarify some things)

My TG16 is 60hz. I don't think TG16 was even released until 89 while the PC engine was 87 which is japan only. So I think that the first couple years of PC engine games don't have it automatically and then after the TG 16 was released in the U.S. all the games had it.

I know on my console that they are some games that autofire automatically and some won't, unless you use the switches on the controller. Also the only cart I have is an everdrive so I'm playing more PC engine than TG16 as most of the games never made it to the U.S.

well my TG16 is a PAL and it's 50 Hz, this give a HUGE advantage and you can cheat. That's why I stopped playnig it for HS and use only my Duo-R instead.

And for autofire, mainly shmups have it by default (but not all) so I don't know. using autofire on Bonk's trilogy seems pretty strange for me but if the score has been accepted by Twin Galaxies, I think I'll just shut my mouth and accept it by voting yes.

@Mantalow:

If not mistaken the PAL TG16's are simply called turbografx. The logo/label is slightly different on your PAL vs. my NTSC console. All North American consoles run at 60 as the t.v.'s required them to :)

Yeah, they removed the 16 part for European TG consoles and also gave them a lighter dark grey design too.
