La Calice Cup 2019 submission. I started on their discord a debate why the top players play this game (and other non-default autofire games) with autofire.

LOL. It started a fire like 'fuck off, i don't want to waists my wrists,... and I want a good score...'.

When I am tired , I stop playing. It's like all the top players always use autofire...

@GTibel: Autofire is for weak players. Play until your fingers bleed. That's what real gamers do.

Totally agreed! most shmup don't have autofire as default. That's how these shmups should be played. Image fight is damn hard by the way

@Raf: Here's the thing. No classic gamer who came up through the ranks would favor shortcuts like autofire. Does your hand hurt after a game? Good, that means you did well. Gaming is a contact sport. You're bound to get bruised and banged up.

I agree 100%! If someone can't handle hours of repetitive manual firing, they just adjust their button pushing technique rather than being lazy by using autofire. Fortunately, most high score websites won't accept any performace with autofire being used. As a result, if you have conditioned yourself by developing a manual firing technique, you can slaughter high scores on games where firing speed is all that matters, like Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600.

The real question is, what are they "saving their wrists" for?

Or do I want to know?

When I played Decathlon for Atari 2600 before recording I spent a week playing movements with only the control. Then I got good results, I trained my arms my wrists and I got High score! After 3 weeks I was hurt from my muscles in both arms. But my Joystick did not break. When I play Bubble Bobble using Autofire I get a good score, but it is unfair to post that. Maybe requesting the Bubble Bobble [Autofire Allowed] Game would be the right thing to do.

Thanks Omar. You can always ask a 'autofire allowed. I am not against it, it just should be separated. Even on schmups.

Pity we can't manage the games better here because I know a lot of submissions from some players were done with an autofire plugin. I am not talking about Image fight.

@GTibel: It's true, some players use Autofire, they record in OBS and we can't hear the buttons when they press fast. Cheers buddy!

Totally agreed about autofire!!

Whenever we went to the arcade, we can't bring in some kind of autofire device to cheat the games!!

Great points!

I had to come up with a technique for Oink! to win the contest in (I think) 2013.
