Topic: IGBY 2

Internet Gaming Bash of the Year 2

The return of IGBY is coming in July. Players can sign up for the contest at http://www.tournament.vg/#/event/igby2/main and pick what team they wish to play for. Who will win this time?  Will it be DKF again or one of the newcomer teams such as MARP or TG?

1. - Selected games will be played for the entire five week period July 1st to August 5th

2. - Minimum of 20 games. Each team will choose the same amount of games – send your game selections to Wolf no later than June 30th. Wolf will inform all sites of game selections upon receipt of selections. Should duplicate game selections be received, the team with the highest number of registered players will yield to the team with the smaller number of players. The smaller team will select another game. Wolf will advise of all details once final list of games have been posted. Once games are selected and posted by Wolf. Games will be played with default dip switches

3. - Auto fire is not allowed

4. - Adjudication – Players are required to submit a screenshot. First place scores will require an INP or Twitch highlight URL. Players are encouraged to save their INPs for all game play. Disputes (if any) will be handled on a case by case basis and reviewed by all sites.

5. - Submissions: players should submit their scores via http://www.tournament.vg/#/event/igby2/main – as we want to maintain as live a scoreboard as possible, please submit early and often. Please do not hold on to score submissions.

6. - All games must be completed and submissions received no later than 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time on August 5th. Any scores submitted after this time will not be valid. Again, submit early and often.

7. scoring will be Top 5 from each team per game will score points for their team.

8. Teams are required to have a minimum of 10 players. Any team that does not have 10 registered players by the beginning of the event will be required to be placed in a state of "partnership". This is essentially a merger of two teams. For example, if Team XYZ is partnered with DKF, then the two teams will become "DKF + XYZ", essentially working as one. It is the sole discretion of the event organizer (wolf) if and how partnerships will occur, but in the event they do occur, they will be engineered to ensure overall tournament-wide team balance.

This sounds cool - but no team for highscore.com? Currently picked AtariAge.

Posted by on 2015-06-06 21:33:12

atariage and highscore are the same team

Posted by on 2015-06-07 09:39:16

I've registered - enjoyed it last year.

yes

@S.BAZ:

Im in on this!

Posted by on 2015-06-12 20:08:41

When you say first place will required an INP or twitch highlight URL, does that mean video?

Posted by on 2015-06-12 20:28:13

I just registered, thanks again derek, one question about video evidence I dont have twitch or am familiar with inp. For this tournament will this be acceptable video evidence: Halley's Comet.

Posted by on 2015-06-12 22:53:41

@derek:

i know we are in the process of changing a rule regarding submissions i am not sure if we are doing away with inps all together or not. mainly cause some people play with cabinets and frontends and can't record an inp with either of thoses

Posted by on 2015-06-13 00:45:57

@OriginalGamer:

that would work good

Posted by on 2015-06-13 00:46:30

@wolfman24: I can totally do video for all my submitted scores but I'm only familiar with using youtube. I can screen record or use a Webcam.
Posted by on 2015-06-13 04:28:58

@derek:

that would work

Posted by on 2015-06-13 05:53:20

I had a blast last year. I'll definitely sign up for the HS team.

How do we want to nominate our games? Each of us put forward five suggestions in this thread?

Posted by on 2015-06-13 13:55:41

@wolfman24:

Great to see 9 teams are already registered. Looks like there'll be a crazy range of games if we all put up 5 games per team!

Posted by on 2015-06-13 13:59:18

I'll sign up again.
don't know how well I can participate, working long hours these days, and every game i was ever good at has been chosen! lol.
I can never choose anything anymore!

Posted by on 2015-06-14 05:58:23

So we gonna discuss game picks on this thread?

Posted by on 2015-06-14 08:08:18

@kernzy:

Im working long hours myself and will be on vacation during the first week of this, but im gonna try to do what I can when I cansmiley

Posted by on 2015-06-14 08:10:27

@derek:

maybe it will be all secret like last time? lol

Posted by on 2015-06-14 10:44:28

@kernzy:

you know you are banned right? from putting the other players down, fighting with them, and fighting with people that were helping me with the contest. you never even said sorry or try to make admitted you were in the wrong at all.

Posted by on 2015-06-14 15:23:33

@wolfman24:

lol, classic.
I think all the things you mention come under the umbrella of "sticking up for myself", while the original perpetrators go unmentioned.
#Gangculture lmao

@wolfman24:

Aww, c'mon wolf, really?  sad

being willing to pop in & participate, w/ no hard feelings -- that seems pretty humble already to me.

that was a controversial call you made.  It was unclear whether kernzy was even in the wrong in the first place, and one of Retro's admins said he shouldn't be disqualified (the contest rules didn't allow it).

as far as arguing with people, well they were arguing too, weren't they?  those people were "fighting" too.  it was an argument.

c'mon, let him play he'd probably be our top player  indecision

Posted by on 2015-06-15 00:22:42

I agree with S.BAZ - let's just put it behind us all and make sure there are no issues this time around. Lots of things were said in the heat of it all, which I'm sure won't happen again.

Totally stoked that we've got another comp to keep us Southern Hemispherers busy during the cold(ish) winter weeks. Thanks for organising Wolf!

Posted by on 2015-06-15 01:54:02

@S.BAZ:

I read though the thread countless times everyone was just stating facts and not arguing. Kernzy was the only one that made it personal and fought with people. I stand by my decision if that makes me a bad person so be it. I am dropping the discussion so you guys can discuss the contest and games.

Posted by on 2015-06-15 14:56:05

@wolfman24:

sad

no i respect your decision, you have to make the call.  I appreciate you wolf!

i just had to try, kernzy's a strong player & i can understand someone losing their cool when accused like that.  they kept their cool but stated more than just facts & gave cheesy slippery frustrating responses to argue for DQ'ing, while keeping their cool. I remember feeling like laying into them a bit myself...

rule 4 update We understand different people have access to different equipment - both for broadcast/recording and gameplay (e.g arcade/MAME cabinets). With that in mind - and a desire to be as inclusive as possible since this is just for fun - the official policy will be "make your best effort to provide evidence." While video and/or INP is still the best form of evidence, we will also accept screenshots, photographs, and in-person verification as evidence for arcade cabinets and other situations (e.g. batteries fail, memory cards fill up) where a more complete form of evidence is not available or easily accessible. Every score is subject to challenge / review, regardless of what forms of evidence is supplied. Therefore, it is in every player's best interest to provide as much evidence as possible.

Posted by on 2015-06-16 09:59:48

updated rule 4 some key things
each team will pick 3 games but have at least 5 to 6 games in case of issues with them
June 28 sign up will be closed
June 29 teams will send in their picks to the board for voting

Posted by on 2015-06-16 09:59:58

@wolfman24:

So, are we going to each nominate 5 games in this thread, with one of us compiling our most popular choices?

Posted by on 2015-06-16 15:13:35

Hey guys. How many of you are on Facebook?

Posted by on 2015-06-17 10:16:18

@BarryBloso:

I'll be working all summer so I probably don't have much time to play, but considering there are atleast 4 really strong teams this year let's play just for fun. ;)

What's your thoughts of how the forum worked last year? I prefer Facebook any day. Barry, are your forums still up?

Posted by on 2015-06-17 10:21:30

@Sixx:

Unfortunately not. We closed down the DudesvilleArcade forum in April. It had a good run of almost 4 years - around 80 games played.

My memory from last year was that we didn't use forums or Facebook much, so maybe this thread is enough. I wouldn't be too worried about other teams seeing our discussion, given some of them are pretty hardcore and will be very competitive no matter what games are picked and tactics identified.

Any other thoughts?

Posted by on 2015-06-18 17:13:58

@Sixx:

I'm on board with that!  XD

i doubt I'll be as competitive as last year, but as long as we all put up a bunch of scores, at least our team will get some damn points!!   glad to see you here Sixx!

I'll nominate Klax or Tetris, I think I'm comparatively good at those.

Posted by on 2015-06-18 22:13:54

@BarryBloso:

So, are we going to each nominate 5 games in this thread, with one of us compiling our most popular choices?

i like that plan!

Posted by on 2015-06-18 22:15:18

@S.BAZ:

I'm happy to compile our set of games.

My nominated games are:

R-Type

G.I. Joe

Metal Slug

Space Zap

The Deep

@s.baz @sixx i send you guys an email at ru but we just ask it here do you guys want to be reps for the highscore team?

Posted by on 2015-06-19 15:31:32

Raiden II or strikers 1945, just putting something out here :)
Posted by on 2015-06-20 06:41:34

@wolfman24:

hey gents.
I also respect wolf's decision. It's not nice to have to choose like that. I will not be arguing or begging for anything. I hope the tournament is as good as the one I almost won, lol!  laugh
Since it's being mentioned..... lol.
That was a crazy time for me back then.
To be called out as a multiple deviant was insane.  Can you imagine it?
Weird was being thought of as cheating in a competition where I had 3 concrete 1st places and 2nd's, too. Maybe I'd get top 3? who knows.
Weirder was being bullied into a corner to admit my own brother did not exist. and I made up "fake" players, in a competition which had no prizes. Pointless.
What's worse to me, is the bullying I received both on the forum and in personal messages. on multiple websites, by the people you are defending. Some of which can be described as sexual abuse. Doesn't bother me personally, but if you want details...
Also, the removal of comments and editing by mods by my accusers/bullies at the time and at their leisure since does not help my corner when you look at it "multiple" times after the fact. I have not logged in since then (as my Mum always told me to not hang with boys who don't play nicely ! ) so all my comments are as I left them. Brutal.
All games I entered scores for had an accompanying INP file, as I record absolutely everything I play, just in case I get a good or fluke game. I reckon all rerious gamers do this. I sent them to Julian/Josephjo/John Smith for scrutiny in a seperate sub-forum. My KFM inp was wrong I remember, but I'm double world champ at KFM, who cares?
I enterd one score for the wrong game, and I asked you wolf personally to delete it. that was my only mishhtake. (score should have been for super macross)
I was held accountable for the actions of others, and then riled into verbal misdemeanors by sicophantic forum dwellers who kiss all the ass they can, who jumped on the bandwagon to do so.
If I upset someone who was innocent to what I said, I apologize for that. But i severely doubt it. Everything I said was directed to an individual as "retaliation".
I can not apologize for anything else. The only people who apologize for things they did not do are people who fear for their lives, or parolees.
The groupthink on those forums can never overrule this.   It's all agreed.
But did you ever for one minute, take that self righteous boot off and put it on the left foot, and think: what if we are mistaken? what the hell did we just do to kernzy?
Do that to any gamer, and he will react in the same way.
Incidentally, the other gamer who actually was proved to be cheating, is he allowed to play? lmao!
Can't believe I am somehow associated with him!
Hi, I'm new here! can I join? laugh
Have fun chaps.
I personally believe i was banned because of my superior gaming skillz, good looks and bubbly personality. But who care's what I say?
broken heart laugh cheeky

Posted by on 2015-06-20 13:33:42

@S.BAZ:

thanks for the kind words, buddy.
It is what it is.
Have not much time for proper tournaments no more.
you could win a lot now!  lol!
i checked scores for a NES win and i could not win that, you have nes and emulated, and all top scores I  have I can't beat them for points. never liked SNES games, either!

Posted by on 2015-06-20 13:38:36

@BarryBloso:

thanks Barry.
I drew a line under it and moved on. others have not, heh, heh.
Maybe next year? or decade? lol

Posted by on 2015-06-20 13:39:47

@S.BAZ:

"they kept their cool but stated more than just facts & gave cheesy slippery frustrating responses to argue for DQ'ing, while keeping their cool. I remember feeling like laying into them a bit myself..."
That means a bunch, mate. believe it.
Boomshanka.

Posted by on 2015-06-20 13:42:14

@kernzy:

I don't recall saying that cheetah is allowed to play, he is banned also

Posted by on 2015-06-21 01:14:21

@wolfman24:

I can be rep for highscore, if that's fine with the other chaps who's signed up..

Let's get going picking games:

From Barry's nominees i choose R-Type and Space Zap. I also nominate Konami's Kicker (TGES = Lives: 2, Dif: Hardest. Extra life at 50k only.).

Posted by on 2015-06-21 09:14:49

@Sixx: Sounds good to me
Posted by on 2015-06-21 12:36:13

i'll rep if you need 2 of us, otherwise I'd say Sixx should be our representative!

nominations

last year I picked a couple games I thought I was good at, but got my ass handed to me!

then I surprised myself by ranking high in a couple games I was new to.

so I have no idea how it will go but here are my picks:

Klax

Tetris

vs Super Mario Bros

vs Dr. Mario

and a 2nd for Sixx's pick -- Kicker

the shooters sound great too.  I love 'em, just never got too good at those.  Raiden sounds like fun.

Posted by on 2015-06-21 14:02:49

@Sixx:

Sounds good mate. I'll leave it with you to compile our final selection and send it through to Wolf.

Derek has done a good job of pointing some of us to this thread. We might need to send some reminders if we don't get the numbers.

I'm fired up to hit this competition hard. Bring on Space Zap!

Posted by on 2015-06-22 05:53:28

Raiden II isn't available at retrouprising but I have a working rom. Don't know if that will keep it out of the comp though.
Posted by on 2015-06-22 14:45:59

I guess I could've picked a bunch of shmups but I figure these are more well known. My 5 nominations:

 • Satan's Hollow
 • Blood Bros
 • Space Harrier
 • Challenger
 • Strikers 1945

I wouldn't be averse to Space Zap but that's one monotonous game. I prefer having fun while I kick ass.

Posted by on 2015-06-22 19:14:40

I just registered and joined the AtariAge team smiley

If I understand well, we have to choose 5 games and someone will pick the most populars amongst us, so here I go (and sorry for my bad english)

 1. Twin Cobra
 2. Dig Dug
 3. Berzerk
 4. Smash TV
 5. Road Blasters
Posted by on 2015-06-23 04:01:58

Xain'd Sleena

Rally X Arrangement

Flying Shark

Sexy Parodius

Wonderboy

Posted by on 2015-06-23 06:41:22

I just saw the games I have choose are almost all banned from the tournament sad So I made another quick selection :

 1. Sonson
 2. Spy Hunter
 3. New Zealand Story
 4. Berzerk
 5. Blazing star
Posted by on 2015-06-23 08:45:03

This is going to be a challenge for Sixx to compile a set of 5 from, as there aren't many duplicates!

Posted by on 2015-06-24 02:04:30

Where is the exclusion/banned game list located?

Keep on listing games, guys!

Posted by on 2015-06-24 11:02:25

@BarryBloso:

Simple, I choose the ones I wanna play. :)

Seriously, if people keep on discussing which games we should play I think there will be no problems.

ALSO: We need atleast one more player! I've not been very active on here for a while, which arcade/MAME players on here havn't signed up yet?

Barry: Could you please post on these guys walls and ask if they want to join?

Frankie

GTibel

Wonderboy

-----------------

Bubufubu is one hell of a player, but I know he has problems uploading videos making inp's unfortunatley.

Cheers!

Posted by on 2015-06-24 11:09:35

I posted on GTIBEL wall and he didn't respond, he could have missed the notification if he had a lot of scores go legit. (Happened to me before ). I also did ask bubufubu but no response either, but his scores would probably need video because there rather high.
Posted by on 2015-06-24 13:48:17

I didn't see rainbow islands on the exclusion list
Posted by on 2015-06-24 13:51:11

@Sixx:

Sounds good Sixx. ;-)

I've just put posts on GTibel, Frankie, Larquey, WonderBoy and Darrin9999 walls. Derek has also done a great job on that too.

Posted by on 2015-06-24 14:18:22

@derek:

Hij guys. Sorry for not answering yet. But i am new here and thought the more experienced and talented schmuppers (bubu, wboy, shaka!, kernzy,..) beside you guys ;) would have joined.

I recently enjoyed playing retro back again after some 15 years non activity. And thanks to this site (and Frankie laugh) i play more games intenser .

So if you're one guy short i am happy to join . that is if Frankie and wboy can't join.

Posted by on 2015-06-24 14:19:37

@GTibel:

It'd be great to have you on the team - the more the better!

You've got some great scores, but ultimately these comps are about us all having fun with some great games.

Posted by on 2015-06-24 14:29:09

@BarryBloso:

OK. Just registered.

Posted by on 2015-06-24 15:08:30

@GTibel:

Fantastic. Great to have you on the team!

Posted by on 2015-06-24 15:54:02

@Sixx:

Don't know if this'll help just tossing it out there, I did a quick search and came up with these games that have at least 3 players from our team on it, not including myself if I have a score posted.

 • 1944
 • Armed Formation F
 • Blazing Star
 • Carnival
 • Cosmo Gang the Video
 • DoDonPachi
 • Gyruss
 • Rainbow Islands
 • Truxton
Posted by on 2015-06-24 18:31:32

@GTibel: Great to have you! I'm far from an expert myself but am hoping that at least a couple games of mine will help score team pionts. Should be fun either way :)
Posted by on 2015-06-24 20:22:03

@BarryBloso: Thanks Barry. Hopefully we get a couple more players :)
Posted by on 2015-06-24 20:25:36

@derek:

Ha, I'm not an expert on games. I just play for fun but I am not able to do crazy scores like I've seen some, and even less capable of beating the games wink

I still hope I'll manage to give some points to our team

Posted by on 2015-06-25 04:06:08

signing up is intil June 30th 11:59 pm est to register for the team you want to play

Xain'd Sleena sounds like fun ;)

OK, guys.. We're 11 players registered. Spread the word, the more the better!

About our games: I'll announce one choice per day saturday-monday. That dosn't mean it's written in stone, but more up to discussion untill final decision on monday.

Game on, nerds!

Posted by on 2015-06-26 04:20:12

NICE !!

Posted by on 2015-06-27 12:15:46

OK, as our first game I propose Kicker (hardest setting). It's marathonable but on hardest setting I think most people will fail to play for hours on end..

Hit or miss?

Posted by on 2015-06-27 15:41:57

@Sixx:

I don't know this game but why not ?

I'm up on anything smiley

Posted by on 2015-06-27 16:13:36

@Sixx:

I'm okay with Kicker, but I'm not sure we'll be able to go Hardest settings, given the comp is hoping to use Default for every game.

Posted by on 2015-06-27 22:19:15

@Sixx:

Kicker is fine with me, but wolf does say above that games will be played with default DIP settings so.........still wanna pick kicker(default settings)? It's fine with me either waysmiley

Posted by on 2015-06-27 23:09:14

it's worth an ask, maybe an exception will be allowable.  but, it does make it easier to make sure everyone is using the same setting, to just use defaults.

either way I like Kicker a lot & still need to put an ass-whooping on it.  ;)

Posted by on 2015-06-27 23:15:44

Oh, then Kicker is out of the question unfortunately. Like I said it's marathonable, so no good game for the compo. I'll be right back. :)

Posted by on 2015-06-28 05:08:56

Saturdays pick is Xain'dSleena. Some of the other teams players have destroyed that game, but what does that matter? Most of the best arcade players around the world are in this tourney, it dosn't really matter what game we choose.. laugh

Sundays pick is... Tadaaa...

Rainbow Island. Easy to pick up for newcomers, great scoring mechanics and fun fun fun! ;)

Posted by on 2015-06-28 05:28:12

@Sixx:

That's Rainbow Island (NEW).

Posted by on 2015-06-28 05:52:02

I've been giving this a thought and I'm getting doubts about my picking strategy. Sorry for my late responce, but I belive this is most fair:

2 games battle eachother in a single knockout round. I've choosen 12 games which will give us a final list of 6 games. Out of this 6 games you pick your top 3!

From all your nominated games I've choosen 9 games, the rest was choosen to represent other genres/and or era's. You pick the one you prefer in each battle and also pick your top 3. All battles were choosen randomly!

1st Battle: Gyruss vs. Strikers 1945
2nd Battle: Blood Bros vs. Xain'd Sleena
3rd Battle: R-type vs. Traverse USA/Zippy Race
4th Battle: Rainbow Islands (New) vs. Son Son
5th Battle: Hopping Mappy vs. Shock Troopers
6th Battle: Klax vs. Space Zap

You have 48 hours from now to vote. As we're spread all over the world I've created a countdown clock:

http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/election?iso=20150630T17&p0=291&msg=Highscore&font=cursive&csz=1

Breakdown:

Platform Shooter: 2
Single Screen Shooter: 2
SHMUP: 2
Puzzle 1
Platformer: 1
MISC Shooter: 1
Run n Gun: 1
Racer: 1
MISC: 1

Cheers!

Wow, nice responce guys.

I'll keep the numbers for myself for now (my guess some of you already has a pretty clear picture of who's in the lead) Still 24 hours of voting left and we're awaiting votes from GTibel, S.BAZ and Coleco1981.

I'll post on the walls of these guys and request of them to not count the votes and simple pick their games without knowing the standing so far. ;)

Still, alot can happen.. Exciting.

@Sixx:

I haven't played any of those but my top 3 =

@GTibel:

Nope, just arcade/MAME games. Make sure to read up on the rules! :)

Posted by on 2015-06-29 12:06:26

would like the games 8pm est today

Posted by on 2015-06-29 12:11:50

OK, guys..

It has come to my knowledge that Gyruss is marathonable (minimum 12 hours of playtime). It seems atleast a handfull guys in the tourney can do just that, so it's a bad choice, not only for us but for the tournament as a whole. As I'm the rep I have to make the hard decision to skip it.

With only S.BAZ and Coleco1981 left to vote, and the fact i don't think Coleco1981 will cast his votes I've decided to give wolfman less headache by giving him our games:

 • Rainbow Islands (NEW)
 • Strikers 1945
 • Son Son

Runner ups:

 • R-Type
 • Blood Bros
 • Xain'd Sleena

That gives us a list with atleast one favorite game per player on the top 3.

I belive/hope S.BAZ and Coleco1981 are totally OK with my decision, so these are the final results. laugh

@Sixx:

Great work mate.

Those MARP picks look like fun!

Posted by on 2015-06-30 02:23:42

Cheers Sixx - thanks for sorting out.

I've just had a look at the teams and MARPs team is incredibly strong. Probably the 2 best players ever in BBH and ThePro.

This will be great fun.

Unfortunately there wont be any communcation channel available at the tournament site. I've set up a forum for all Highscore/AtariAge IGBY2 players at:

http://highscore.freeforums.net/

Use your highscore nick name! Forum is meant for sharing strategy's, gossip etc. ;)

Richy: Yepp, MARP look incredible strong.. And yepp, this will be great fun.

After you register for the forums I have to approve, I'll be back in about 12 hours.

Posted by on 2015-06-30 13:56:35

@Sixx:

Do we must use Wolfmane 0.159 ?

I already have MAMEplus! 0.162 and I really don't want to install another emulator (unless I have no choice frown)

Posted by on 2015-06-30 16:38:33

Sorry for the late response been super busy - those games are fine - I'll have join the forum and download the roms. hopefully I'll have some time for gaming this weekend or friday night! I'll get ready to roll.

@Mantalow: Read up on the rules, I'm not sure.
Posted by on 2015-07-01 00:57:42

Great job with the forum for highscore Sixx smiley

mantalow: I think you can use any version of wolmame, because some teams have already uploaded scores and each is a version.

I have a question so now we have until the 5th of August to upload our best scores not?

Posted by on 2015-07-01 01:54:39

@Sixx:

I think I can use the emulator of my choice. when submitting score, the form ask which version of MAMe I'm using. I'll try and see.

Posted by on 2015-07-01 01:56:30

@WonderBoy:

We've got until then to load scores, but I think they're keen for us to load up scores as we go - and not just do a last minute upload of a bunch of high scores (I remember seeing a reference to "sandbagging" in the rules).

Last year I reckon I ended up loading up at least 3 or 4 different scores for each of the games over the course of the 5 weeks.

@Sixx:

Forum is great Sixx. Thanks mate.

Posted by on 2015-07-01 06:50:13

Yeah, any MAME will do. Make sure you have inp's/video if you're going for 1st place.

ALSO, don't assume your MAME version uses the correct dipswitches.

BTW, has anyone successfully got SFIIce in action?

Posted by on 2015-07-04 04:02:59

@S.BAZ:

you want to put in your turtles again you put 754700 when you got 2860

Posted by on 2015-07-04 10:00:49

@wolfman24:

That's the correct score, wolfie. ;)

Posted by on 2015-07-04 11:51:58

I see a number of score for this already so I ask How the hell did you play it? Star Fighter [starfigh] doesn't work. I even tried the ROM from the file above. I get the red box saying the game doesn't work/ not emulated right and there's nothing I can do about it. The gameplay is a ship (a mash of weird sprites) shooting at nothing.

Posted by on 2015-07-04 17:53:12

@OriginalGamer:

Which version of MAME/WolfMAME are you using? It's broken in earlier versions - now seems to be working in 0.159.

Posted by on 2015-07-04 19:53:51

@OriginalGamer: It works for me
Posted by on 2015-07-04 20:03:51

@S.BAZ: The rom in the bundle didn't work for me, but I have a working rom for it already in my other mame folder. I think it requires a parent rom of street fighter 2 the world warrior [world], but can't remember exactly.
Posted by on 2015-07-04 20:07:35

@BarryBloso:

That has to be the problem then, version 0.143. 4 years old. I think I have 0.153 I'll try that one.

Posted by on 2015-07-04 20:25:54

@OriginalGamer:

Nice. I think it was broken in 0.152, from memory.

Posted by on 2015-07-04 23:19:07

3 of my scores DQ'd - not really sure why...

Posted by on 2015-07-05 12:33:59

@RichyS:

Most of the time it is because the identification is unclear / not OK.

Posted by on 2015-07-05 13:24:02

@GTibel:

Initials in all... I will try a few more games this evening and take more care with the photos.

Posted by on 2015-07-05 14:32:47

Sorry - me being twp.

If you aren't in the top 5 for your team on a game the scores don't count. Playing Gekisou at the mo. Never seen this before - good fun.

Posted by on 2015-07-05 14:51:05

@RichyS:

Is that why some scores are grayed out?

Posted by on 2015-07-05 15:57:47

@RichyS:

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Maybe I don't have to put effort then in SF2. hate fighting games laugh.

Posted by on 2015-07-05 15:58:06

@RichyS:

the scores weren't dqed. they are not top 5 for your team and that is the reason why they are greyed out

Posted by on 2015-07-05 21:42:14

lol, Triple Punch is another Amidar clone laugh

Posted by on 2015-07-05 23:54:08

@wolfman24:

is there a page that shows all the scores at once?

I'm finding it pretty tedious going to each game one at a time to see how we're doing.

Posted by on 2015-07-06 00:27:35

@S.BAZ:

i don't think so i wasn't the one that created the scoreboard. I noticed that you can see how many points your team gave you in games by clicking on team name and you can see all your scores on by clicking on your username in the leaderboard

Posted by on 2015-07-06 12:32:34

@wolfman24:

Is something wrong with tournament.vg I can't login. I click login and nothing, the login button turns green that's about it. Not timing out or denying login, just nothing happens.

Anyone else having an issue?

Posted by on 2015-07-06 18:05:12

the website was down earlier the cause was on google end it should be fixed now

Posted by on 2015-07-06 21:44:44

@wolfman24:

ok

well it's still a pretty badass setup altogether, cheers!

Posted by on 2015-07-07 23:58:29

@derek:

which romset/ MAME version are you using for SFIIce?

Posted by on 2015-07-08 01:50:09

@S.BAZ: I'll have to check this afternoon after I get home.
Posted by on 2015-07-08 05:41:53

@S.BAZ:

Try this:

http://www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-_Multiple_Arcade_Machine_Emulator_ROMs/Street_Fighter_II'_-_Champion_Edition_(World_920313)/16389-download

Posted by on 2015-07-08 18:53:23

@S.BAZ:

Ok the rom in the link above works in MAME 0.155, but not in the version of  mame that was bundled with it.

Posted by on 2015-07-08 19:16:31

@S.BAZ:

I had the same issue.

Donwloaded a new version (920513) and now it works:

https://www.planetemu.net/?section=roms&dat=1174&action=showrom&id=2281157

I am using the latest (dos) mame 0.163 (?!). Don't know if you required the Qsound.zip too.

For Final Fight I had to redownload a newer version of that too.

@GTibel:

Difficulty is set to 4 which is not the default .

Posted by on 2015-07-09 07:23:07

I also like the idea of the scores. If you drop in rank, you also loose points. Maybe this can be implemented in HS? Because now players don't loose points. And for new comers it is really hard to get in the tables. Certainly for the top 20.

I wouldn't mind to give back x K points when someone beatens me.

Just a thought cool

Posted by on 2015-07-09 08:40:28

@GTibel:

i think i suggested that at one time too.  that would help the point-system to better reflect how well people are doing at the games, & a little less heavily reflecting how many scores you've submitted.  # of scores would still be a big factor, but right now it's I think a bit lopsided toward # of scores submitted.

--and thanks :)

@derek:

ok will do, thanks!

Posted by on 2015-07-09 20:07:06

oops, I always forget, DONT REFRESH !

I've been playing SFII on Super Nintendo for practice, I figure they're comparable enough.  (plus it also serves to generate more SNES scores for the contest!)

Posted by on 2015-07-09 20:09:00

Hey wolf, there's a score for shock troopers that ends in a 6 instead of double zero, I'm like 99 % sure that means he continued 6 times as the game keeps you're score going after you continue, but it changes the last digit. The score doesn't score any pionts in the tournament so it not a factor, but im just pointing it out to you :)
Posted by on 2015-07-12 07:13:06

Bubble bobble 2 is also a game that doesn't reset your score when you continue, but it adds a 1 to the end every time you do, but since it scores by 10s I guess you could continue 10 times and get a 0 in the end again?
Posted by on 2015-07-12 19:26:12

@derek:

I agree with you derek he is a cheater, I tested shook tropper with Continues, and you're right every time continuous adds one point, good detective work derek laugh

Posted by on 2015-07-13 02:25:53

@derek:

yes laugh

Posted by on 2015-07-15 04:17:51

@S.BAZ: It makes you question all of his screen shot scores, how do we know he's playing with the settings. That's the repercussions of not following the rules IMO :)
Posted by on 2015-07-15 05:09:53

@derek:

looks like that score has been removed.

yeah I would think his submissions should now be under tighter scrutiny.

Posted by on 2015-07-17 01:32:23

hey guys, does anyone here have the lowdown on SF2ce?

what versions it will work in, etc.

is there something else to know besides which MAME ver. to use?

it looks like team AA/Highscore needs a Street Fighter boost!  I know I can do some damage if I can get the game working...

at least 7 of us have got it working, can anyone help??

@S.BAZ: The one in the link a gave above works in mame 1.55, you should try that
Posted by on 2015-07-17 06:10:53

@derek: Mame .155
Posted by on 2015-07-17 06:11:44
