Hi, Gorfy. I hope I can see you in AtariAge HSC again! It's not the same to play Atari without you. Now, in case you don't want to come back, just send me a message. It's always good to talk to you. See ya!
Finally I found my original picture. It was posted in AtariAge HSC. Here's the link: http://atariage.com/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2013/post-32348-0-05454000-1374258174.jpg
This is an old score obtained in the AtariAge High Score Club ( http://atariage.com/forums/topic/214962-7800-hsc-season-6-game-9-centipede/ )
In the picture my score is the 6th - LID.
I'm returning to Highscore.com and forgot to put my name on this one. At least, I can tell I already hold the maximum score in emulation for a while now.
The secret to get maximum points is to save grampa with the right amount of points so: bonus + your_current_points = 9999990.
You save once, note your points and final results then go for another game.
Congrats for beating my score!
Got this score in this competition: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/196657-atari-2600-knockout-round-16-frogger/
Oh, thank you, Oyama. I was really playing much less these days and hopefully get better scores too.
+1 vote for merging scores for Pitfall!
Pitfall Diff A should be merged with Pitfall Diff B into the plain Atari 2600 cathegory since diff switches aren't used for this game: https://atariage.com/manual_html_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=360
Played in "Novice", the easiest setting. I'm LID with 25,991.
The yellow score means + 10,000. You can confirm this in the manual: http://www.carolvsghost.com/artwork/christmas_carol-manual.pdf
Very cool to see your failed attempts together with your record breaker. Good thing your new computer gives you all those motors you've blown...
Pic is from Joust, not Dig Dug.
Easy/Normal Speed is the easiest setting for this game.
Played with the easiest (and default) setting: Apple Start.
The game has these difficulty settings: Apple, Banana, Burger, Egg, Corn, Cake, Turnip, Melon, Mushroom, Bell, Clover and Present. You can't choose speed # of lives or speed.
By the way, great Pac-man game, a pitty I'm not good on it.
This game has no settings, practice mode etc.,only the main game. So, I think a pic is enough.
Yes, you can! : )
Yes, the music is irritates a bit. But smurf isn't much difficult, just have to take some room to and push up twice to start the bigger jumps, then you can keep jumping high by pressing up when you fall.
Not too different, it only has the 5200 and Atari computer style. To be honest, that's one thing I like in these computers and the 5200, it isn't much different than 2600 but with its own graphics and colours style. 5200 is too big and has problematic controls, I'm thinking in getting an 800xl and a multicart for a twist in my 2600 games.
The bridge shows it's the seaside track. Oh, I forgot to turn the mug, my name is only on the other side of the special Christmas Carol mug from the contest: http://www.carolvsghost.com/cvw/pg_contest.html
I am playing a lot of Atari computer games! I discovered this: http://atari800.tistory.com/category/Download
Great project with tons of games in a easy and fast way to play computer Atari games. You should check it (although the download size is big due to pics of magazines).
Settings B/B (5 lives/fast mode). Started at Teddy Bear.
At the moment I couldn't upload the pic for some tech problem. I'll do it as soon as possible. I played this game starting from teddy bear level with five lives. Diff settings were B/B (5 lives/fast mode).
Thank you for the advice, thedarkbanshee, and sorry for making you analyse details on my pics.
Yes, it is a home brew from Bob Decrescenzo (PacmanPlus) based on the astrosmash. Astroblast is the 2600 version also based on astrosmash. Astrosmash is the Mattel answer to Asteroids!
Sorry, although this is my many times used Philco TV with the second button missing (channel +), you won't see my name in this pic...
Thank you, although I didn't manage to roll the score, that's a good game.
Yep, my favorite player. :)
The bottom video is the right one. The first video is a playlist which, at least for at the time I'm submitting this score, begins with Demons to Diamonds.
I watched the video for the current 1st place gunsmoke player and he also repeated at least one level. Since that one passed, I'm voting 'yes' for this score.
I was watching the video when I noticed the first level repeated... This is a difficult game to set rules for. It rewards a player by repeating the level when you don't hit the hidden wanted poster and doesn't buy it.
Hmm... After watching a little of the video I noticed an expected issue with this game. I really don't know what is the best way to play gunsmoke for high scores purpose. Unfortunately the game rewards you by repeating the level when you miss the 'wanted' poster and don't buy it. A 'no repeat the level' rule would be good for high scores but this rule certainly would ruin the fun, especially when you miss a poster on a later level... I don't like too restrictive rules.
I love this game. It came with my Nes console! I liked this points as currency approach. Congrats on the score, I'm going to watch your video.
Thank you. I'm enjoying some Atari computer games for now. :) HERO was my favorite Atari 2600 game for a long time.
Some games are fun in all platforms (frogger, centipede, river raid, dig dug).
You can choose your starting points from these options ( 0, 10k, 20k ... up to 60k). Difficulty starts according to your starting points.
I started from 0 point because that's the default (which matches this cathegory). If you ask me, it's a bit easier to get very high scores starting from 0 than from 60 since you can earn extra lives.
The highest score is the bottom left one.
Well, I like these shooting games very much. Moon Cresta is good but it's a little short with few waves before repeating.
Soon there will be Astroblaster for the 7800. In my opinion it's better than Moon Cresta but it isn't available yet and maybe it will be available only with a box... Moon Cresta was available only with a box for many months.
I understand you, the constant action hurts the hands. But it's a good game, no doubt.
Good luck and have fun!
Yes, it brings many stages more, a new weapon to freeze everyone and other things.
Cool game. It was planned to be the Mattel answer to Centipede!
It's probably not available now. It was offered only in here: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/196059-7800-hsc-season-5-game-3-moon-cresta/
But, since nobody got the original 30k mark, there's a chance Bob would give another patch...
I know you got a new Moon Cresta! Cool game. Bob would give a patch to the player that passed the 30k. Nobody got that! Then he lower the mark to 15k and now I have a patch of Moon Cresta!
Sorry for the late answer...
I pressed the button 7 for regular speed (not advanced) and tracer shots.
For Intellivision, this is a great site: http://www.intellivisionbrasil.com/Menu_Jogos.htm
Overlay, manual etc for Demon Attack in that site: http://www.intellivisionbrasil.com/Jogos_DemonAttack.htm
Nice to see you! Welcome.
I decided to stop at 106685, only a bit over 100k because this game has a glitch that can happen after 100k and (if I remember correctly) the player gets extra lives. The player doesn't really have control on the glitch, it may or may not happen. Eventually, I'm going to record a video for higher scores.
You need to use the second paddle.
The upper score disappears if you play in a difficulty level and then change it. In other words, the fact the picture shows both the upper score and the expert difficulty setting means it was achieved in the difficulty shown: 'expert'.
Sure. I always think I should pay more atention to Arcade/Mame. I suspect the day I get a mame cabinet, my gaming will change forever. Mame with desktop lacks something.
And Retoillucid will make a Nes version!
(05/03/2014) If I remember correclty, I put a picture with my final score of 552,590 when I submitted this socre. Now I only see my video which, unfortunately, doesn't show the final score. Well, at least the video shows some skills to get this score (and was voted as a legit one).
I played only one game to get this score :)
It's another game I had since a young child, that's why this one is easy for me.
This is an awesome game! And you've got a great score!
Played at skill 1 (easiest).
I bought the games after Vocelli announced them (Space Rocks, Stratogem and Colony 7). Cartridges arrived last week.
This was played with these settings: USA : 3 Lives : Bonus Life at 10,000 : Difficulty = Normal
This was for Regular Speed (there are regular and advanced speed) and Tracer Shots (there are tracer shots which follows your base cannon and direct shots). There should be a regular and advanced speed entries, tracer shots or direct shots could be in the same regular or advanced speed since it's more of a personal taste in my opinion.
Thank you. I'm a big fish.
Well, usually I'm getting 100% or only one no vote for Atari 2600 not emulated.
If you get your no vote in the begining you start with very low rating and grows up (0% -> 50% -> 66% -> 75% ...)
So, early 'no votes' can give a bad impression at the begining. But, ultimately, sometimes you never know why you're getting some 'no votes'... Some people gives 'no' only for the 'I know it's false' while others may only give the 'yes' for 'I know it's true'. What to do in the doubt zone? I bet we have the non voters, the yes voters for doubts and the no votes for doubts!
That's diversity and may be a good thing. Good thing is to play fair and post as you enjoy most, avoiding being worried too much with some no votes.
After this stage with intense traffic, you're pleased with easy traffic again. This 15k is a difficult barrier though.
PacManPlus is a humble man but he said it is a quick hack from Ms. Pac-Man.
I think it plays as Ms. Pac-Man, not sure. Anyway, I just played and posted my scores. I think I could do a little better though...
It's another PacManPlus game. I don't know the original Crazy Otto too.
This one is available in AA: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/155794-happy-new-year/
When there's no description on difficulty, I choose the most fun to me. In this case I started at bike and played B/B which means 5 starting lives (opposed to 3) and Fast Player Speed (opposed to Normal Speed); according to manual there are only normal and fast speed, not turbo. These settings are the default.
I agree. I saw some games with only one category, in my opinion, you can choose any difficulty level for these (meaning higher scores will probably be settled in easiest mode).
Personally, I choose the more funier mode when I can choose. Usually slower settings on Intellivision are too slow and boring.
Anyway, I'm going to talk to Serious about this one and how we should bring all Intellivision difficulties. (see my comments on Tron Deadly Discs)
Picture of manual and overlays for Serious.
Thank you, Serious.
But [Skill 1] doesn't seem too obvious because the order of difficulty is [keypad 3: slowest]; [keypad 2: slower]; [keypad 1: slow]; [Disc : fastest]. So, skill one is the slowest that begins pressing keypad 3 or skill 1 is started by pressing keypad #1 (slow)?
Intellivision doesn't use skill 1, skill 2 .... consistently as Colecovision does. imo, it's better to explicity say [disc], [keypad #1], [keypad #2] in general.
Then, if a game has well known skill levels with better discriptive words; you can use specific names for variations (not Tron's case with common 'fatest', 'slow' etc generic names which didn't even appear in the overlays).
Thank you, guys.
I used Camtasia to record the MAME window.
Since there is no specification, any difficulty level should be allowed to play. This game has 4 difficulties in order from slower to fastest: keypad #3, keypad #2, keypad #1 and disc entry. I played using the disc (fastest) but you can vote considering slowest since this pic can't show it and the category allows any difficulty.
Actually a lovely one . In real life, I would prefer to have a woman planting flowers to conquer me (unusual approach, I know) than to shoot people/aliens to death. It's good to see a little love in games. : ) Oh, by the way, the cartridge is pink.
Thank you Oyama. You're right, I forgot it. I only remembered when watching the video on youtube. The video would be much better with the phosphor effect...
Cool. For some reason I always wanted to play this more often but never got the time. I love Battletoads and Double Dragon 3. By the way, Wii is a great machine to emulate consoles.
A new homebrew for Intellivision is available now for preorder at Atariage. Missile Command was my first video game but Smurf was the first I liked since I was 4 or 5 years old.
Yes, but with one big flaw: difficulty doesn't ramp up. At the begining you choose skill level and the game continues with that one.
You can use a Colecovision Controller to play Omega Race on Atari: https://atariage.com/controller_page.html?SystemID=2600&ControllerID=12
It isn't as difficult as it seems. After 14k things get easier again and you can score higher. In fact, this is my firts post 14k score.
Thank you, Sixx. I agree, a nice way to revisit the game. I'm going to try to finish it without losing a single life and passing through all levels. Great challenge.
I used only one life for this score because it's the "One Life Only" category. So I lost my life at 201,500 points and stopped playing.
Yes, I saw them! I liked the Atari 2600 Dark Chambers and yesterday I received the 7800 cartridge from Mercado Livre. I like to play in emulators but I think playing with the cartridge and good controllers is much more fun.
After this game, I will try Gauntlet for Nes which I played just a few hours long time ago.
For this game It's better to post with video evidence because you don't know what level of difficulty it was played and the game makes it easy to farm points.
That's why I chose "Biginner" (the easiest) and went all way down to level Z, where I stopped. Next time, I plan to record videos for rolling levels back to level A and higher difficulties.
As a friend once said, who had the brilliant idea to organize a ballon festival during an airplane race? Anyway, it's a fun game and I'm waiting for you.
Hmm... I've heard some games published as anthology weren't emulated 100% correct. Now I don't remember if it was related to Flashback games or what anthology...
Maybe this Sky Jinks doesn't run as the original... Take a look of my video to see if this ipad available Sky Jinks is a real Atari 2600 Sky Jinks emulated or a remake.
I've just made a video and uploaded as evidence for my entry in the emulation area! It's only a 2:20 but with some crashes! I guess it's enough to show how much crazy you need to be as a racing pilot : )
In the video there are 2 games, second is the one I finished with 2:20.76. I'm a bit rusty but it's enough to hold the World Record for now and show some flying skills.
By the way, with your time (2min 27 secs) you would finish only in 15th position in that HSC round!
And it isn't even a perfect run! Look here and see NorthcoasterGamer beated my time: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/214876-the-new-high-score-club-s2-weeks-1213-unique-weeks-2/?hl=%20sky%20%20jinks
It's not enough to not crash, you need to keep the throttle! If I remember correct, there's only one pylon you really can't make without leaving throttle. I guess I had to make 3 turns without full throttle for this time (only left for a short time, of course).
Are you playing in the AtariAge HSC? If so, who are you? If not, I invite you to join us there. Much fun!
It is the fantastic Space Rocks: http://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1026
You can download the rom here (programmer made it freely available): http://atariage.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=267968
Use latest stella version to run this new homebrew!
I've never used an emulator for Astrocade but I know of this: http://www.ballyalley.com/emulation/emulation.html
I would love to have a good working astrocade. I would play with a fan pointed at it all the time!
Thank you. I used Capitan Estaban's path but I played only once on Sunday and a few more games during week.
