@sav2880:

Welcome to HS sav

I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

BTW I'm glad you have a back bone to make no votes unlike many on this website.

@S.BAZ:

I agree with allowing as many sub games with in games. I do not see there being a problem with first trophys or the points from sub first trophys. Cosmic Bugs could use all of Zimmers sub listing as well as many more. Look at me an my No Exploits. It is based not on a level or seperate features. It is simply No Exploits with FULL evidence to prove it. This means many of my exysting scores went into my No Exploits scores and I got the first trophys for those as well as for the normal game that I consitter allows exploits. Zimmer being over 100% is a different issue and I know nothing about it. I might even vote that no but before I did I would like to know how it was done

I suppose after seven months I should reply to that thought. :)

Yeah, that makes sense. A game I'm actually working on right now for the Atari 8-Bit contest kind of blurs that line too, since Asteroids has a wealth of different modes ... but I get what you're saying, a stage really doesn't constitute scoring full points on its own, but different modes should. I can be down with that.

Time's also eased my thought on it. Being less pushy on it, mellowing.

actually i see what I said cannot work. who can tell how many games will be made out of one game? the fractions thing will not work. now I think 0pts. for first trophies on per-level scores is the most fair. but only if it is a game where you could play one entire standard game and then also submit all the per-level scores for that same one game you played in one sitting. So I mean the best time on a certain track in Mario Kart, or most lines in Tetris, or game 16 of Space Invaders would be ok as a complete game. what do you think about that, sav? do you see any problems with that idea?

I had to give it more thought, so here is my take on it now: Playing a single game of Cosmic Bugs and getting 1000pts for a first trophy, and then submitting 300 pics from that same session, and getting another 300,000 points (just in 1st trophies alone) does not seem right. I have to agree. So I am supporting the idea of making the "first" trophy on a per-level score worth only a fraction of the value of the one for a full standard game score. So, for Cosmic Bugs maybe awarding 1 300th of 1000pts. for the "1st" trophy for each per-level score. that way if Zimer or somebody makes 301 score submissions after playing ONE game of Cosmic Bugs, they could only earn 2000 points in "1st" trophies, instead of 301,000 points in "1st" trophies, just by playing a single game of Cosmic Bugs. To earn 2000 points in "1st" trophies, for making 301 submissions seems ok to me.

I see both sides for sure, and I agree, having a diverse set of challenges is a good thing. Heck, look at how speedrunning has redeveloped a new set of standards and records on a lot of games. My only hope is that games are as equal as possible within the point system. No game should inherently be worth more points than another just because it has more challenges, but those challenges should be encouraged. I've sent some ideas over to Serious, they're much like what I shared below. I think this can encourage things like individual level games, but not dishearten someone who just got a record on a game and is thinking "I'll never catch up in points" too.

wow, this site is fantastic! what a brilliant system, I'm enjoying it very much. sav, your reason to vote no is perfectly acceptable to me because you own your own reasoning & therefore your own vote. For myself, although I think you have a good point, I'm also still on the fence with that. Can you tell me, how do you feel about all of those Candy Crush scores? one for each level. do you feel it is significantly different from what Zimer is doing? each Cosmic Bugs level as a game in itself does almost seem a bit absurd. I didn't think that with Candy Crush because CC has a larger scale of points to be earned and each level is a challenging game of skill. Multiple users (at least 2) have already begun competing at some of those. but still, who knows if people may want to compete at Cosmic Bugs, level 177? I asked Serious about this and he said he would like to see people put up whatever challenges they would like, and see what people do. At AtariAge High Score Clubs we have had competitions specific to only certain levels within games. I played in Crystal Castles (1st four levels, most points), Sonic 2 (Green Hill Zone - Rings), Sonic 2 (Green Hill Zone - best time), and also the Sonic 2 Casino level for time, and for coins. and both of these could also be competed at for points! each stage of each Zone could also be broken down into separate competitions. a series of Zones could be singled out for Rings, Time, or Points. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 alone could be broken into 50 or 60 if not hundreds of separate contests! I would definitely have to allow times for each track in Mario Kart. and then for each track, when raced against computer opponents. and then all of those again for each class of race Kart! how many contests does that add up to? and that is just for if ANY character is allowed to be chosen as driver. add to that all of those times 8, one for each character specifically (they have different abilities & weaknesses). do you think that would be an abuse? just food for thought. personally I would accept all of those. but I know that isn't exactly the same as with CB. I would like to hear your thoughts. For now I am agreeable to Zimer posting all of these, but I am voting no on almost all of them because they go over 100% and it does not say "glitches allowed" in the heading. the subheading says "no bugs or cheats," and I am taking that to be in the spirit of "no bugs/glitches/farming/infinite looping/scumming, etc."

Zimer, he knows how I feel about this already, and I'm not afraid to make a statement about it, and unless it's changed, I feel like posting this many scores for a single game is a horrible way to game the point system. I look at it this way. If the scores were setup in such a way that you earned (1000 / number of records) per game, or (total points / number of records per game) for an accomplishment, that's sensible. This way, you're gaming the system to be the #1 record holder on the strength of one Wii game, and one PC game. Seems a bit off to me. Also, if you are indeed removing and reposting the scores to remove comments, that's bush league (if it's Serious, I'll talk to him about it), but just saying, I don't think this really is playing fair, and I'll just flat out tell you, I plan to continue to comment, and continue to vote your individual scores for Cosmic Bugs as NO.
